    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

Ya, that's all theory though, a great general guide. In my experience, real world jetting can be slightly different. a #20 would be too low, I can probably try stock #22.5 and just see what happens. I'll have to wait though, ripped a gapping hole in my tire today ). I'm already 2.25-2.75 turns...

    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

Hey guys, So played with jetting today. Good times :( stock jets were 22.5 pilot, #190 and middle clip, Air screw 2-3 turns out. Had issues starting with this setup. Went to 27.5, #180. Had issues, air screw 3 turns out, too far. forget exactly but wasn't quite right. Went back...

    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

No as you'll read below. Usually a timing issue will let the bike run atleast. Usually symptoms of a shot CDI or Coil is sputtering, missfiring, cutting out, overreving, pinging etc. ______________________ With the Molkt carbs after running for a bit, then shutting off and trying to restart...

    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

Ok, so I picked up a brand new VM26, put it on and the bike started beautifully, never heard it idle or run so well. Ran it out for a bit then shut it off to cool down to try to see if it would start again. F me, looks like it is having the same problem as with the molkt carb, no gas getting...

    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

The floats all good, even without opening it up, all I have to do is blow in the inlet line and tilt it once it's off the bike and I here it click open. It's almost like there is negative pressure created in the float bowl and the float needle suctions closed, but that can't be due to the drain...

    FFFF'ING MOLKT CARBS!!!!!Best carb replacement?

Ya, that settles it. I'll get the OKO 26. Was always trying to save a few dollars with Molkts, and my old one with old style float works great. Havn't got one of the new one's to work so F it. Thanks for the assurance. Best place and prices to get the OKO? what kind of jets do the OKO's use...

Stock YX160 Rebuilt, Hard starting, rough idle.....stumped.

hey guys, Just thought I'd do an update. So I soaked the carb for two nights, got the air compressor and blew air through every passage, there were a few that definitely seemed like the air built up and then blew out meaning they were tight or blocked, one that comes to mind is the tiny pipe...

Stock YX160 Rebuilt, Hard starting, rough idle.....stumped.

Yeah, carb related for sure...from past experience, usually rough idle means air leak. I've never tried the WD40 trick though. I'll try it out if I can start it. No question I'll get it going, just a matter of troubleshooting it. Carb is still soaking. Will post up results soon. J

Stock YX160 Rebuilt, Hard starting, rough idle.....stumped.

No worries Craig. Seriously, I understand. Just so you know, the frame kit option comes in @ 2200$, it gives guys a chance to save money and throw in their own spare parts they might have lying around. Believe me, keeping costs down is tough, I'd like to give them away but when you add...

Stock YX160 Rebuilt, Hard starting, rough idle.....stumped.

yeah, I'm narrowing it down to pilot jet just like your guys are saying. The float bowl fills up because it spills over when I'm working on it. The seat might be flaky though, I've had it happen before, makes things go all screwy so we'll see. I have the main jet out, left the pilot in while I...

Stock YX160 Rebuilt, Hard starting, rough idle.....stumped.

Hi guys, Just throwing this out on a few forums trying to get feedback. I just rebuilt a YX160 stock engine, new valves, piston rings etc. + transmission. Followed steps by book. Have done a few rebuilds so know what I'm doing. Made sure valves sealed etc. Good compression, all the main...

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

yx160 Hate to chuck the carb as it does run well when it starts. like I mentioned in previos post I kicked it over with just a little bit of throttle held on and it started up on third kick. So for anyone reading this, keep that in mind. Gonna start from cold again tomorrow to see if the...

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

Meh, the molkt is a descent carb once you get it dialed, no need to pay anymore atm. Update: Actually started up from cold on third kick today no issue! While kicking, I held 1/16th -1/8th throttle open sort of like a fast idle setting so it confirms my idle theory. Hopefully this is the...

XY160 haha. Good one on the supermodel. Canucks get points for effort in my book. Not a huge hockey freak myself anyway. *sigh. hehe, as much as I hate to admit, your dead on about charging the intake with air, for sure it's already in there, just makes me think I'm doing something...

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

XY160 As I write this from my igloo, No, I whack off the throttle a few times before I go to, uh...get her started so as to put a load of....uh....er.....air into her. Seriously, can't be too lean because with choke it won't start and choke shuts it off while it's in a good running...

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

Kill switch it. To start I'll whack the throttle a few times to charge the intake but never while kicking. Actually, didn't really mention but some days it WILL start easier than others. Not quite as easy as warm but maybe 4-6 kicks. It's just so unpredictable.

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

YX160Hardstart Cold, warm OK. Lol. Joking???? So ghetto but I WILL try it. Kinda hard to bring a heat gun out in the woods if you park your bike for a bit. Gotta figure out the science behind this. All has to do with jetting, Pilot and fuel screw adjustment. I think turning in the...

YX160 hard start, perfect when warm.

Hi guys. Little info: Name is Jonathan from Ottawa Canada area (far I know) haha. I'm mainly a Free-rider and I ride anything with handlebars that goes fast, recently have been using these motors to build custom motos. ISSUE: Hard starts when cold sitting for a day or two. Takes many kicks...
