Hmmm, I'm not too sure about the CF wrap, i've seen it on a few bikes and I found that it look a bit too fake. Plus it would be the only CF on the bike. Maybe if I add a CF tacho shroud, case covers and exhaust hanger it will work

thanks for that gooseman! I think ill keep the air ducts black, the small splashes of yellow work better imho. bjbarsted - Nah the indicators use normal globes and havn't experienced any issues with the flash rate. I believe that you can also fix the flash rate by using resistors which could be...

I decided to do a test fit by using some left over paint to see how the yellow air tubes would look. The yellow doesn't match the rest of the yellow on the bike but it saved me from having to buy more spray paint. I agree with timeeh that its just too much yellow. What do you guys think? <a...

Yeah I was leaning towards yellow too as the seat covers that i'll be getting have the yellow stripe on the side which will work well with the yellow ram air tubes. Yeah im loving the way it's all come together :)

I sprayed the chain guard matte black, which has really improved the look. It will get scuffed easily but it will still look better than it did previously. Now i'm turning my attention to the ram air tubes, which look a bit tired. I'm unsure of whether to spray them black or yellow? <a...

Finally got a chance to put the tank on and get it ready to ride. All that remains is to get some new seat covers, do the valve clearances, get some new tyres, new chain and give her a clean. I might also have to try and revive the chain guard as it's looking pretty tired. These are the seat...

Well with the weather being all over the place it's been hard to get a window to paint the tank, but it is finally finished! I also installed a brand new pet**** filter and got an inline filter as a backup. I also used a paint marker to highlight the lettering on the selector: When the...

    CBR250RR build

Been flat out at work lately and with the days being shorter its been hard to get a chance to work on the bike but I have managed to get a bit of work done over the weekend. My Kreem Tank Liner arrived from the states and I must say that it is a great kit. Since going through electrolysis...

Yeah they are fantastic bikes! I also changed the oil and filter the other day so I can start to put the fairing back on! Looking forward to finishing up the tank and getting the bike completed!

Nah I havn't used molasses, but it sounds like a great way to do it! The bonus of using Electrolysis is that all of the rust binds to the sacrificial steel so when you pull it out all of the little rust flakes and things go with it

    The electrolysis worked!

    CBR250RR build

Before: After: You can't really tell from the photos but a fair bit came off. I'm going to do it again, I think the problem was that I was using high quality bolts as the donor steel, so it wasnt pulling the rust from the inside of the tank as well as it should, plus I was running low on...

Gave the electrolysis another go, it definately worked better this time, there is still a bit of rust so ill be giving it another go, hopefully itll get all of the final bits of rust off and I can finally get this bike buttoned down. I also managed to pick up a genuine front fairing for $50, so...

Jaycar stuff arrived and managed to get the power supply sorted: When its a nice day ill set up the electrolysis again and see how it goes

Electrolysis didnt work very well, there wasnt enough load on the power supply so it kept switching off. I have a suitable resistor coming with my goodies from Jaycar so once that arrives i'll give it another go

Thanks mate. The electrolysis is still going, generally takes around 8 hours or so depending on the current, I will post some pics when its done. If im not happy with it I might give it another crack as there was a fair amount of gunk and stuff that built up from sanding it. I didnt need to...

    CBR250RR build

Well, after a lot of swearing, heating up and cooling down I managed to get the fork cap off, to find a whole lot of black, smelly fork oil: The next step was to remove the bolt at the bottom that holds it all together. This bolt is meant to be one of the toughest bolts your ever likely to...

yeah ive got a set of anodized bolts for the fuel cap but I couldnt find them when i took the picture, hopefully ill find them hiding somewhere when its time to install it

    CBR250RR build

So while I waited for my rear stand to arrive, I decided to make myself a benchtop power supply out of an old computer so that I could use electrolysis to clean the rust from the inside of my tank. Here is the power supply as it is: I have a bunch of goodies on the way from Jaycar so that I...
