CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

Ok, here is where I'm at: I adjusted the valves this morning and took the carb apart again and let it soak in carb cleaner to make sure it was clean. Replaced the O-ring on the carb side and put a new gasket on the manifold side. The book says to have it idle around 1300 but it has trouble...

CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

Hey guys, I got the new points, condenser, plug wire and boot installed. I set the timing using a static timing method and it was spot on the F <--> Case mark. I also set the gap on the points to .35mm as recommended by the book. I forgot to buy a carb rebuild kit, but I did pull it all...

CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

I took the carb apart today and cleaned it all up. Still has the same issues. I'll wait till I get the new parts and install those and see what happens. I'll reply to the thread when I get to that point. Probably not until this weekend at least I'm guessing.

CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

I have a gallon can of that parts cleaner stuff. You take it all apart and set all the parts in the basket and let it sit in this thing for 30 mins or something and then clean it up/blow it out with compressed air to make sure all the little fuel circuits are open. I'll do that in the meantime...

CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

Thanks.. Is using a timing light the most accurate way to set the timing? I have one and it is easy to hook up so that isn't a hassle for me. I think the manual said to time it when it was at 1300rpm. When it's at 1300 rpm I should make it so the F mark is exactly on the mark on the case?

CT-90 - Tune up all the way around

Hey all -- A little history first.. This 1979 CT-90 was my step-fathers. He bought it after he got cancer because he always wanted one so he bought one before he got too sick to ride it. It's pretty clean and wasn't beat down much at all. I don't know how long the points/condenser have...

    Honda CT-90 Timing

Mine was really clean. I took that 10mm bolt off and there is only one mark. It looks like it's at the high point of the cam. The area is clean and I can clearly see the surface - there is only one mark. This mark is also far away from the part that rides on the cam itself. Maybe 180...

    Honda CT-90 Timing

My curiosity got the best of me and I went out there to check out what you're talking about. I have the F mark on the case line. I don't see where these two lines are. Are they on the cam itself or are they on the plate where all this stuff is mounted? When you mean rubbing block, you mean...

    Honda CT-90 Timing

That would be great, thanks. I sure would appreciate that. :-) Actually, if you could email it to jaime(at)pirnie.org that would be great because I don't check here too often. Just obviously replace (at) with @. -Jaime

    Honda CT-90 Timing

Oh, I didn't know there were marks on that shaft. I think I got it close with the timing light and it's all buttoned up and the garage is clean. The next time I pull it out to start it up I'll take a look for those marks and put it right in the middle. Sounds very easy to do. :-) Thanks a...

    Honda CT-90 Timing

Hey all -- I hope this is the right place to ask this. I have a Honda CT-90 and I'm trying to make sure I get the timing right. I made sure the gap on the points were .35mm. The manual says between .3 and .4mm from what I remember out in the garage - at any rate, I put it right in the...
