‪Mini motolite Suncity, Townsville, RRAT race 2 pt 1 of 2‬‏ - YouTube

Hi guys, havent been on the forum for a while, but i thought i would put up this link of our yx150cc 4-valve motorcycle racing at the RRAT round 3 club championships in Townsville. There is no mini motard up here yet but we do have junior mini motard and am hoping senior mini motard will start one day, but for now i am slotted into the motolite class(must ride like a road bike and not like a motard) which is combined with buckets(superlites) and womens unlimited, being the only senior china rider out there i race with against mainly 100cc 2-strokes and cbr 250s, now please note this is my hobby and i am not a professional and with that in mind this is how i have some fun on a budget(my bosses own the bike and supplies all the bits and pieces) and i cover the days costs. So dont be to harsh about my dodgy riding but please all advice will be listened too, this could be huge up here, just need more people to put there money were there mouths are, people always state, ill bring my piddy down and flog you or do you think that would beat this, basically i dont care
because someone always has a bigger D*$# then you, im just a bloke having a go, its great to be back.

mate it looks like a sick track, would love to be able to go for a ride there!
goodluck trying to get more interest in a mini tard series

Congrats on actually getting out and racing! Love the disclaimer;) I'm a rolling chicane, but it doesn't stop me from having a good time. Them short wheelbase bikes get a bit twitchy on sticky tires and a big slab of asphalt, don't they? lol

Did you do the setup on the YX 4V head? Any prep needed? The ones we got here in the States are a bit sketch on the valve job and lash, as delivered. I've just put one together for my 125cc racer (60x44) and wonder how you like yours, and have you compared it to any other heads?

Cheers!

Well done on getting out there and even being in front of a few bikes.

The YX 4-valve in motard trim has shown some potential and good power at our Nationals that were held at the Phillip Island Kart track in March.

With your riding style, the faster guys move around and off the bike alot more, like the gp guys with your knee on the gound and your outside bum cheek on the inside edge of the seat.

I can't link a youtube video as I'm at work, but if you go to youtube and search for 'Mini motard phillip island' the first video should give you an idea of how we all ride.

good stuff
cbr250rr behind you !!!
yeah the road style will work best imo
unless theres some dirt like proper motard
[fingers crossed for dirt at next years titles]
just hang off till you feel silly

hey barnes how did the 4v head go at the island?

Pauly and Aaron were running the 4-valves, they were quick enough in a stright line, but Billym yourself and I all had V2 2 valves. If you could get roller rockers or a set like the honda unicam then the 4-valve would kill a V2 but then it's not a china engine!

cheers for the advice guys, your right mate being new im progressing slowly with the knee out and getting my arse off a bit, but after the race im shagged as it is a heap of work(as opposed to just sitting there) and i guess im unfit, but does it bloody improve cornering speed. Ill defianatly check youtube with that description you gave. Race 4 wasn't on camera, but was completely wet, so the first lap i got pressured and put the rig on the ripple strip and got a huge high side and head plant, the 150 was pinnned upside down on the limiter, this is well worth the effort as this sport is bloody awesome and a feeling of belonging is awesome.(bloody dirt trackers hate the chinese bikes up here, hence the reason im riding road races.)

Mate the 4-valve was asis from china and am now progressing with lower times than the 2-valve was doing, we did some changes a while ago but was to many and then had to backtrack to find the weak link in our times, the shim setup for adjusting the valves is a good setup but extra shims upto 2.5 mm is required as this thing chatters when not shimmed right, the intake port is flat so it takes the standard intake and the exhaust required is the GPX style pipe, the engine is completely stock and has held up sweet with clean oil and constant looking after for 1 season now(same bottom end that the 2-valve was using) it sounds slightly lumpy being 4-valve, actually it sounds stroked in a way with the 4-valve head, mate these things can be a hand full on the driest track, good luck with your 125 mate.
