I've come across this sticky'd thread that's been closed for a few years now so I couldn't bump it for everyone to read. But I did manage to copy the first post which is basically the most important!

Please use correct spelling in your thread title!
Trying to find some older threads is almost impossible when you abbreviate words, please read this if you haven't already read and understood the Reasonable Standards Posting Thread. This is not a having a crack at anyone in particular! Just a needed announcement.

Posting: reasonable standards.

Hi all,

Some of the posting at the moment is a little out of hand with the slang and the text abbreviations both in the thread titles and in the body of posts. Posts using all CAPS are also becoming more common and are a pain to read.

No-one is expecting that the spelling and grammar in the posts is going to be perfect and typos etc are not going to be edited constantly. Typos and spelling mistakes in thread titles WILL be corrected.

Correct spelling makes it easier for other users when searching topics and it also adds to the overall look and feel of the site. Of course some abbreviations such as "LOL" are here to stay and FFS, etc are preferable to spelling out the words. When they are used in moderation there is no issue. Full stops can also come in handy. Some posts have to be read three or four times to figure out the gist because the sentences all bleed into one.

Things are not going to get out of control on the editing front, but when a post looks like this:

"OMG, im up 4 byin a fuly sikk bike. NE1 got 1 4 sail???"

or like this

i want to get a bike but not sure if i get a klx110 or klx140 im a bit big but not that big dad says to get the smller bike my mate says bigger im not sure help me decide by next week going to sydney so will buy then don't want to have to go back

or this

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO GET PRO TAPERS FROM IN MELBOURNE EASTERN SUBURBS FOR A REASONABLE PRICE?

it's going to be edited or deleted.

Just a few things to keep in mind.

*Do not post with your CAPS LOCK on.
*Do not use text talk and abbreviations as the basis of your post (the odd one is fine).
*Do not use text abbreviations in thread titles at all.
*Try to be conscious of spelling and grammar. No-one's expecting perfection, but if it's not easily and readily legible, the post will be edited or possibly deleted.
*Take the time to read your post before you hit submit and do the appropriate editing.

Thanks all,
Skylar

Haha yeah like that!

It's probably just more me having a rant, but for a while now I'll be thinking of some old threads n go to reply to one of them, only to realise I can't find the bloody thing because its spelt or abbreviated wrong.

Edited for clarification.

I think that when a thread is started most are not tagging there thread, i.e in the tags box you type certain words that relate to the thread, i.e Say your thread is "how to tune my carb" then in the tags box you type a few words like, carby, tuning, adjust, settings. Then when a member searches they can place similar words in the search bar and this will raise the opportunity of finding familiar threads.

Good one rotn^ never new you could do that, I too have had trouble searching for threads on here, sometimes I find it easier to search it on google and put miniriders at the end.

Yeah this came up a fair few months back, MM reckons there not much he can do with it, apparently it needs to be like that, or there's some sort of filter that's making it like that? Can't exactly remember for sure.
But googles definitely the go, cheers for the positive response guys. Thought I was going to get roasted! :)

well in that case he may as well replace forum search with the monetized google search for some coin and better search results

Well I'm no PC boffin so I can't comment on anything to do with the interweb wizardry. But I think correct spelling would be a perfect start to an old issue that could quickly get out of hand if not kept in check.

The spelling thing cant be to much of an issue as when on tapatalk and phones do predictive text and you dont spot it then its stuck and cant be changed anyway. And cordogs corey I will always roast you ***** bahahaha.
