Hi Guys,
Been a long time since I have been here but in need of some advice.
Its time for a new bike as the pitpro drives me insane with all the things that go wrong on every ride.
Looking at a CRF50.
What I will be doing:
I will be doing a little jumping nothing major just fun with a mate I ride with he has original Thumpstar 110 and the never missus a beat. The thing I will be doing most is trails with my son on his little PW50 another bike that I never have to touch. Both flawless bikes and it has made me want something that is reliable I am baically sick of carry a tool box in my back pocket so I can fix my bike half way through each trail.

My concern is weight I am 5'10" and 95kg (210 pounds)

Will I have to upgrade anything on the drivetrain?

Will the bike even move with my weight? Will a 88cc kit help it along?

Next thing is suspension I will be oredering hd springs with chomoly lowers. I already have a fox float rear suspension that should fit. Will this setup be adequate?

Any help would be appreciated
Cheers
Dom

I can't speak with any reputation, I'm not exactly too techy or experienced when it comes to these bikes, but I can speak on behalf of experience.

I recently bought myself a 160CC DHZ DPRO, which is a CRF50 styled bike.

I don't know how the original compares to china bikes, but I would assume a lot better quality.
I weigh approximately 71kgs at 6'1", and the bike FLIES along without any issues what-so-ever!

In my opinion, I think you'll be fine, but you might be better off hearing from some of the clued up boys around here!

You're about the same weight as me mate, my crf has upgraded springs front and rear and ive never had a problem with jumping it, as for the engine you'll be sweet on the stocker but 88 kit does make it a bit more fun haha

With a fox float and +1s in the front you'll be laughing!

Thats what I wanted to hear. Ok time to start ordering parts.
No more China stuff for this bloke time to step up to something more reliable.

Im about 115kg and ive got race cdi, dr.d pipe and heavy duty springs. Moves fine and jumps sweet

I'm only 60kg and I find the stock motor pretty boring at times. I guess it's personal preference but I think after a while you'll get bored and want to upgrade to an 88cc kit or an 88cc kit with a race head.
The suspension sounds pretty good, and don't forget you'll want a big bar kit as well.

I will eventually get the 88 kit but i enjoy the 50 atm

im 70kgs and find my 88 slow. so as twisties said, personal preference really. and I jump my crf soo hard and it hasnt skipped a beat. you will be fine

im 180cm n 120kgs , my stock 50 is may favourite bike :)
Ride it alot , at races around the place & with mates around home.

yer geoff i was gong to try find that pic of you carrying your bike off track at one of high roller rds to show him haha
But im hopless with that search button

if your going to be jumping then its a good idea to strengthen the frame as you will bend it after a while if your hitting decent gaps.

If you hit the search tab in the navigation bar & type in frame bracing , strengthening there is a few threads to get the idea. eg vvvv

or you can lash out & get a fast 50s frame that is stronger than stock but is still the stock dimensions.

dont link photos post them ;) haha

and yeah what Georgalis said is completely true! if you are going to be hitting any decent jumps you will want to fix up your frame!

Cheers guys. That picture is great:action-smiley-035:
After looking around for a crf50 i came accross a klx110 with everything on it for a reasonable price. I am considering a kld now. Hard to make my mind up both such good bikes.
