hey guys,
i have been riding pocket bikes for a long time but i have gotten out of them as i just never ride them anymore. i have been going to tafe for automotive technology and have learnt alot about 4-stroke engines, so i have decided to move onto a 4 stroke bike.
i went through my stage of having small bikes, so now i want something bigger.

the Atomik Fury 250cc caught my eye ( NEW ATOMIK FURY 250CC PIT DIRT BIKE MOTOR THUMPSTAR - eBay Other Trail Bikes, Trail Bikes, Motorcycles, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 29-Apr-09 21:00:00 AEST) )

from the measurements given, it looks to be a good size for me, but i want to know a few things.

1. how sound is the frame? will it crack or get damaged through general offroad use and some jumping?

2. what is the suspension like? will i need to be replacing seals and things alot?

3. how does the engine perform?

4. is it worth it?

i would love to hear some reviews and recommendations from you guys, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

i am in the same boat as you...

i can get a brand newbie from a mate still got plastic wrap on it for 900 bucks

took it for a ride and it hammers and sounds unreal heaps big barkkkkkkkkkkk

but i am not to sure if i buy this i will be spending more time and money fixing it...

just came across this last night i know its not the fury but it might help

yeah i read that review earlier, but i was hoping that someone might have one of the fury's.

in general, what are atomiks like?
are they garbage?

Like i said to ranga last night, I have a atomik proX 250 and it pulls me just fine (75 kg ,190 cm) you can get a bit of speed and hit jumps no worries. The only think atomik are renound for are ****** front forks and heavy frames.

The forks can be slightly improved by some minor mechanic work done by your self (oil change and pump air or nitrogen into them) but theres nothing to do about the heavy frame.

ive ridden mine about 10 times on MX tracks and 10 times on Bush/paddock/riding around in circles for between 6-10 hours each time. Ive only had to do regualr servicing (oil, plugs, valve checks, carby tear down, clean and rebuild) no major hassles

previosly i rode a Honda cr 125 (but sold it for 2 china 250`s and a trailer) and to be honest they dont really compare in quality the Honda is just a beast. But are they value for money. . .Bang for your buck. . . fun to ride.. the bottom line is Yes, they are fun to ride, fun to stuff around on just dont expect to be outrunning CRF250`s or pulling 30m stoppies.

hey guys atomik make mostly junk

but there are some freaks out there

http://www.miniriders.com.au/general-chat/13985-going-try-new-hummer-g4.html

this is a link to a very insightful post on a chinese big bike
it will give you a bit of an insight of what to look out for when starting off with a china big bike
keep in mind that the water cooled 250 is good from my experiance but is only fairly new to the market
in saying that the fury is going to be similar to the hummer but updated a bit

just remember your gunna get what you pay for

good luck

Hey sikko what course are you doing at Tafe? - i completed my Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering last year at tafe. It sounds similar to what i was doing

im doing a certificate 2 in automotive technology.

im not a full on rider, so i think a chinese big bike will be great for me, so that i know what im getting into if i want to fork out the additional money for a quality japanese bike, rather than forking out thousands of dollars just to find that its not what i want.

plus having a chinese bike will mean that i learn how to maintain a bike without having to worry about getting professionals to do it for me.

im trying to sell my pocket bikes to fund this, so if anyone is interested, let me know :)

with your pocket bikes are you talking about the 49cc mini 2 strokes by any chance? ive been looking for another one to play around with but im not really keen on spending much money. . .im talking like less than $100. What have you got?

hey mate,
sorry but my bikes are watercooled racing bikes that are highly modified. they cost over a grand.
sorry about that bud

"the hammers"
my dads mate imports them in..

they are a ok bike but i still would be abit worried being a chineese bike...

doesnt matter what you buy your going to be spending money on it
i have spend ova a grand on my 125cc pitpro and that is just fixing it no mods as yet...

yeah mine are euro racing bikes. i started off in chinese aircooled cags just like you did, but got into the hardcore euro racing bikes. and believe me, the euro bikes feel about 10 times more powerful than a cag.

a standard cag puts out 1.5hp, whereas my racing bike puts out 16hp
