hey everyone im new to miniriders and just wanted to get and idea and your opinion of what was a better bike i no there they have a bad rap but i was lookin for a bigfoot for under a grand and these bike sell for bout $8oo ish so i was wondering out of the two what would be better the atomik reign 150cc or the reign 160cc and what would be more powerful as they say there yx motors but whats the diffrence between these yx motors and better pitbike brands yx motors?

your help would be appreciated

thanx

the 160cc would be the pick of the 2, also ask if it has the upgraded case and gearbox.
if it hasnt then its going to be something tht will need doing in the future. the upgrade kit can be purchased from DHZ.

the yx150dt-5(150cc) is a good engine providing you kick start it properly they have been known to crack cases too. there are no updated cases for these engines tht im aware of.

just be prepared to be upgrading alot of parts on either of these bikes as there not the best quality..

the 160 should eat the 140 throughout the whole rev range..

too many things come into to it to think about top speed, but i recon 80k would be no drama...

im pretty sure pitpro's quality is on par with atomiks but the best person to answer that would be DVDrip he has a pitpro and an atomik...

yep no bigfoots tho, pitpro bigfoot is pretty much a normal pitpro on a bigger scale.
But I'm sure the atomik bigfoot will be on par quality wise with the pitpro bigfoot, they're cheap budget bikes so don't expect anything amazing.
I'm gonna go ahead and say the atomik bigfoot is better quality than the pitpro bigfoot, and much better price to match. That's my opinion after looking at both on the net and comparing, not personal experience.
Only thing I'm not sure on is the strength of the atomik swingarm, looks a bit sketchy.

If you get the 160 you'll need to get the centercase upgrade kit if it's the old dodgy model, and piss of that IRK and put an ORK in it

thanx guys yeh i no it wont b the best but just lookin for a bigfoot with a fair bit of grunt just somethin diffrent! do the 2009 models have the same exact parts as the older models or are they diffrent and whats the diffrence between the yx 160 from the dhz and other good brand pits and the yx 160's on the atomik bikes?

good brands will be using the updated center case and atomik will most likely be using the old one, the old one was weak and very easy to crack the cases if don't kick it properly

edit* i've checked the atomik motors and they run updated cases so they solid ;)

are the billet oil coolers better than the alloy ones coz the 150 has one and the 160 doesnt why would this be? and is there much power diffrence between the the 150 and the 160?

billet and alloy = same thing ?
the radiator style coolers are better but are damaged easily compared to the solid billet ones

the 150 does not have a center case upgrade on the market afaik, 160 does for just over $100, it's also possible that the 160 is already the updated version, but being an atomik I highly doubt that.

If you're not prepared to fork out $100 for the case upgrade then go with 140 to be safe

Ive got a 2014 yx160 reign. Seems to pop out of gear or something sometimes. Just wanna make its not the bad gearbox???

As you can see this is a really old thread, the yx160 you have will be the gen 4 motor,
The guys above are talking about the gen 1 dirt max motors,
Sounds like either the shift drum or forks are sticking, maybe, you would have to pull it down, if it's as bad as you say

Its only occasionally it seems to skip 2 and goes 3rd to 1st i think. Ill work out whats happeneing after some more riding. Only did my first hour yesterday. Bike has been sitting for a couple of years so who knows. Maybe some riding will re lubricate everything?

Sound's like it might have a worn shift fork
If that's the case then the engine need's to be taken out and stripped down by seperating the centre engine case's and checking thing's out internally

See the bottom section of the fork here, it's been worn out, the fork is normally thicker on the bottom edge.
as well as the pad's on the end that sit in the guide's on the gear's
Being worn it will move less than what is needed to engage the dog's in the gear's so it can break dog's off the back of gear's etc
The worn fork's can also cause worn shift drum's

You can get an upgraded drum and fork's to replace your's with that is less likely to wear as quick
The upgrade Shift drum/fork's set is used in the Z160HO engine's
They have a lot more metal where the older fork's wear, and the Z155HO/Z160HO fork's also have a third pad in the middle of them to help remove some play/wear

Prior to me. This bike has had around 5 hours of tame riding done. Doubt its worn. Ive onky put and hour on it. Ikl sre how it goes over the weekend. But thanks heaps for that awesome post!!

It could be something as simple as the Shift drum bolt's are loose then
There is one behind the rubber plug above the front sprocket that is easy to get at.
The other one is behind the clutch at the top half of the engine

Alright cheers. Oncr i get my engine running good ill sus if gearbox issue remains or goes away or is just in my head
