Hey guys probs a stupid question but got some braaap oil it's 10w 40 just wanna no if its ok for my 160ho engine not sure if its a mineral based oil when I said I usually buy my stuff from dhz they just handed me there stuff and kinda gave us the cold shoulder lol

I've used it for ages, and have it in my 201 cc YX. In fact I like it better than motul. I forget what brand it really is, but it's good stuff. Brad runs it in his 190 as well.

bit of a grave dig, but i noticed on the braaap website their oil is listed as synthetic. i was under the illusion that non synthetic/mineral based was better?
 
yes, the friction modifiers in semi and full synthetic oils wear out clutch plates and cause your clutch to slip at higher RPM's.

my fury 250 will not shift well at all, literally to the point that its unridable unless its got mineral oil in it. i run a tad thicker oil too, 15-40. i find that 10-40 thins out a bit when riding for a while, gear changes start getting a little clunky.

In automotive car oils, motorcycle oils do not contain these frictions modifiers.

However if you had a dry clutch you can run car oil however you do not.
 
if it's semi, or full synthetic bike oil, it will usually say suitable for bikes with wet clutches on the bottle.

it's just easier sometimes to suggest Mineral based oils

probably more likely to be caused by the clutch needing adjustment, after bedding in.


thinner oil makes shifting easier,
there's a heap of bike riders that use the Ford type TQ95 ATF fluid to help their bike gearboxes change easier/faster.

so thinner is better ? on the fury, when the oil starts to thin out, its shifts are alot louder and rough, but then again this is a new engine and could be just because its still being run in
