hello everybody im new to this i just bought a mxb bike and the back brakes every time you push the peddle nothing happens does anybody know how to fix this???

Assuming that it looks OK externally you need to check the brake fluid and probably bleed the rear brake.

thanks for the reply ive tried that but it still wont work do i need to change the fluid????

You will need to bleed them a lot and this can be done a couple of ways. The simplest is to remove the caliper and put it on the floor with the brake line in a straight line so there is no high spots. Fill the resivor and open the bleed nipple keep filling the resivor until fluid runs out easy then nip up the nipple while its still flowing. Do not allow the resivour to empty.

Or get a large 60mm syringe with a catheter tip (about a buck from the chemist) and a peice of plastic tube that fits on the bleed nipple and syringe, use this to suck the fluid thru.

Probably the best way is to drain the fliud from the system remove the calliper and make it low as per the first method. Fill the syringe and pump the fluid in from the calliper until the resivour overflows. This way all the air rises to the top.

Presto brakes will work. If not time for a new brake system approx $50-

Let us know how you go and which method you use, There could be other ways to do it so wait until you get a few more answers.
