I'm tossing up between a 125cc PitPro and a 140cc PitPro. They say that the 125 is 9.5hp and the 140 is 12hp.

My question is: is there anyone who has ridden on both a 125 and 140, and have you noticed a difference? And how big was that difference?

Cheers.

ive had a 127cc lifan and 140cc lifan i noticed a decent amount of gain enough for me to suggest if you were tossing up betwwen those two id spend a little extra an go for the 140cc

true not much diff in price but a good diff in speed mostly top end i reckon.they just keep goin my little cousins got 1 the lucky bastard.

...yeah you can tell alright. The real numbers are closer to 8hp and 10hp. The 140 has much more torque than the 125's which is the first thing you notice.

The 140 blow all the time??? How do you figure that.

Yeah got a bike ready for next FOTM. I put a stock 140 in while i'm finishing mucking around with cams for a 160 being built for it. With only a 28mm flatslide and a big flowing custom exhaust, the thing rips as is.
Its the first time I've actually tried extracting the most from a totally stock motor and I gotta tell you guys with 140's, go get yourself a big flowing exhaust and at least a roundbore 26mm or 28mm carby before you do anything else. Get that carby dialled in and you'll be pretty amazed with the difference. Obviously the engine suffers big pumping losses if the pipe does not flow enough. In particular anyone with the 'D' exhaust on the DHZ 140, get rid of it! It is a very restrictive pipe. I've cut the guts out of them for guys before. But they still don't flow good cause of the header. They have a smaller outlet on the can than I've seen on 70cc bikes. Internally also is a restrictor.
On this stock motor, i didn't quite have the carb dialed after running it in set a little on the rich side. After making a few changes, the thing cleaned out at the top end whilst i was on the back wheel in third and i launched and looped out pretty big! The extra power in the top end and on a stock motor, i was not ready for!
Needless to say i spent the evening getting x-rays on the left shoulder.

No breaks yee hah!

Torn rotator cuff...bummer. We'll see how bad in a couple of days if it needs MRI scan.

Theres a small difference, I'd be just as happy with a 125, plus you can race 125's.

It has a slightly higher top end but I'd go for the pitpro 140 because it has alot of other things that are much better than the pitpro 125.

The differences I see are that the 140 has an oil cooler, different swingarm, different rear shocks, brakes, exhaust and one or two other things. Crap, that's more than I thought...

Torn rotator cuff, man that sucks, I had a torn one 15 years ago, finished my footy days for good. I saw the doctor a couple of times and after about a year I had a opeartion to fix it and thousands of dollars of physio later and it is still dodgy. It gives me grief whenver i stress it (ie having a bowl in cricket or throwing a ball) so I think I would have preferd a broken bone. Hopefully yours will settle down a lot better than mine.

Yeah I won't know till I get MRI done next week. They can be real nasty i know. I am being optomistic at this stage cause no use worrying till ya know theres something to worry about...but...i heard it grind and tear so loud. Didn't sound too good.

They dont sound good at all when you do it or after. The worst thing about mine is when I am using a screw driver above my head (my shoulder near my ear) i can hear it grinding and I know that its never going to get "better" but aside from the real stressfull uncontrolled moves I can still do everything (I can do handstand push ups, heavy weights, swim) just have to be carefull.

If you havent already been told to (or have been told but havent been doing it) get a Ice pack and ice it for 20 minutes at least a couple of times a day (and pop a couple of neurofen as well) it really helps speed up recovery (along with physio). good luck with your scan.

Thanks cass, i was told to ice it and they gave me neurofen but i never follow instructions...instead i,ve been getting heat into it and laying doggo. I have seen quite a few cases of this myself playing league, then later rugby, also had a mate do it bad diving for my fifth wicket in grade cricket a couple of years back. He dropped the catch too and i could not forgive him at the time...now he is forgiven! He had a lot of trouble and needed several surgical procedures on it. Weird thing is i have good use of my arm from the elbow down, but if the shoulder moves at all it is like getting shot in the arm and back with a 303! I haven't been able to lift my arm for three days now, very frustrating. Took my first neurofen a couple hours ago, I am going to have to get over my dislike of medicines... and doctors.

Hook into those babys for at least a week, they bring the swelling down along with the ice (it may not be swolen on the outside but it will be on the inside).

Hey guys
Everyone "Fudges the Hp figures,The Euros manufacturers even do it with their motors,As a seller tho who in their right mind would quote the true lower figure when selling a bike or engine when everyone else is using the inflated numbers !!??.Thats advertising for you ! LOL

Great to hear about your new big bore motor, not so good to hear about your shoulder tho !.Damn those old bodies Eh ???? I feel for you I lunched my LHS shoulder after looping out doing a wheely in 3rd gear on my CR500,Ther I was laying on the ground in agony and all my great riding buddies thought it would be a good laugh to back up their bikes and roost on me ...Ahh Happy days.Got the shoulder recontructed and De-braded and now its just like cass38a etc.I can pick up heavy weights but cant hold the darn arm above my head or out straight in front for any length of time & it is like a squeky old door hinge....LOL
Hope it heals quickly and you can jump straight back on the "Lifan Beast from Hell"

Cheers Brian

hey can u plz get a picture were this injury is? i hurt my back/shoulder playing footy i got crunched a while ago and it never really has came good, well on my right but behind my shoulder, if made a tear noise and my back cracked i couldnt move for ages and it was really hard to get deep breaths, just sounded like the same thing, but probably isnt i dont think ?? the thing that sounded the same was after it got better i can still lift and do push ups ect, but when i do over arm bowling it pulls something and really hurts!! and sometimes when you do a certain action it will hurt but not in others if ya get me? i probably sound like a wacko, haha.

Also dammmn mack you know your stuff, i know were i'll be geting my work done when im back into minis in a bout a years time! (tho im in W/A)

I heard that the 140cc hasnt got as much off the line pull/speed and was better at botom end, going higher speeds??

Also i heard that the 125cc jailing is competitive against the 140cc liffan and can keep up? or possably would it be the gearing?

peace

Rotator Cuff Tear

It is my belief that the 140 Lifan as it comes installed in many of the cheap bikes is being restricted because of the exhaust/ carb combo. But still even in restricted form has a **** load more torque and power than previous engines. It would want to, it has bigger cc, is a stroker, has much better breathing head than the jailing and has better stock camming. The gearing on some of the new bikes is very different also from what has been previously run. You gear two bikes the same then run them for a comparison...you'll see the difference. Let the 140 breathe with a decent pipe and carby and you'll see there is no comparison. I have been running the 140's with a 14/39 sprocket setup and found it to give best use of 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear in the dirt.
