So I'm back at my Chinese pit bike motor again. After tackling the transmission gear slipping issue successfully after around 20 hours riding my clutch stopped engaging. opened it up, and clutch nut has come off. My thought was to put it back on and make sure it's real tight and the lock washer was correctly locked in. Back together and still not engaging. Probably 1 hour of riding with no clutch nut. The clutch was new with maybe 50 hours ride time. Worked great for those 50 hours. Couple questions regarding this Chinese clutch.
1. What is the proper name for it?
2. Would riding with the clutch nut possibly ruin the clutch?
3. Can you rebuild these clutches?
( everything looked to be normal )

50 hrs is a fair bit mate...

proper name for what!! the castle nut or the clutch lol

riding without the clutch shouldnt hurt the clutch but it can damage the outer little cover on the clutch that sits against the clutch cover...

clutch can be rebuilt... but easier to buy a new unit..

i think you might find your problem is the sleeve inside the gear behind the clutch is seized.. pretty common..
try and remove it all and linish the sleeve till it turns nicely in the gear...

Incredible you're response time and accuracy. Correct name for the clutch in these bikes I think is "centrifugal". Correct me if I'm wrong please. As far as that sleeve, I vaguely remember taking it off and am sure I didn't put it back in. Don't know if it was the beer or the neighbors kid touching my stuff every 5 minutes. I'll check it out this weekend and update if it was seized or not. Being seized makes sense though, if the kid knocked it on the ground I'll bust him up. Anyway like I said thanks, great response and top shelf forum.
