I just received my COMP 172 with 4 valve engine produced by atomik and Dirtmax engine factory.

It's dam mad!!! its got marzocchi minicross shiver forks , and linkage rear suspension.

I sold my pitster pro linkage bike and my Ycf pit bike to buy this.

So far i have re shimmed the head and the engine is running so sweet. its going much harder now than when i took it straight out of the box.

for some reason when i ride it on the series of big whoops at our track this Comp 172 feels much more stable on the bumps , than the pitster pro.

and s@#$t all over my ycf bike , glad i go rid of that to many problems there.

keep you guys posted on my upgrades later.

hi welcome to miniriders,

dont forget to drop in and post on the introdue yourself thred

do you have any pics of the bike you can post up?

I didn't even know atomic made a pit bike with linkage... 172 that would be a beast of a engine.. who makes that engine wouldn't mind looking into one..

It looks just like a pitster pro... I bet the linkage makes a hell of a difference over rough stuff... does anyone know if there is anywhere I could just get the frame an swing a from ?? An a rough price on it.

Same bike Styv won VCM a last year on.

they look pretty good, atomik have finally realised their customers arnt as stupid as they previously thought, hence the linkage and 4v head, shivers, etc. would be a great competitor (and money saver!) to the LXR (with a few mods)....
in saying this, i hope there customer service is a little better, im my past experience they have always been pretty reluctant to supply you the right part :/

**** swing arm

the rest is same same

styv did only get one season out of his and it fell apart at the start of this year

there all good though for the coin

but atomik are still **** as a company

ive heard the 4 valve heads are pretty restrictive? i only asked on quality comparison to the lxr as all the atomiks i see at the local minibike shop seem rather poorly built.

Wait wait .... you sold a pitster pro lxr and a ycf for an atomik ? what can i say besides we all make mistakes in our lives .

Just messin with ya lol i don't mind the newer atomik comp range always been keen to see one in the flesh ! let us know how it holds up ...glad your enjoying your new purchase !

I'm currently looking at racing... And saving for this beast...but I don't think this is a 4v head... Why you ask?.... Well notice the cam cover it's the same as a 2v head.. I would just slap a tbv2 head on it....better carb... Handlebars.... And better qual chain... Then **** would start to fly!.....

looks pretty sweet but the price tag looks very steep for an atomik why you decide to get this bike bud?

the rocker covers tell me it's a 4v engine, 2v's have 2 bolts

with a little work, you could get the 4v's flowing well
cant just add the TB V2 head either, need to change to a 2V piston as well.
may as well add a big bore kit at the same time.
why not save some more $$, then option it with a 190 Anima
