Hey all!
Say you build a bike, ive seen a few minibikes getting around, and want to get it road registerered???
To make your pride and joy an everyday ride! What would you have to do ?
How would you get it complied and would you need blue slips or inspection to pass?
Im in Nsw but we could get together rules for all states.
Any one Know where to start?
:D

The key is the compliance plate, it's very difficult to reg anything that doesn’t have compliance. It can be done but you need to get engineers cert to cover all aspects of construction, you need to prove all light fittings and things like mirrors are adr compliant; you need to prove exhaust emissions. You also have to have a cert for the braking efficiency. The last time I took a vehicle through this all the engineers certs etcetera cost in excess of $3000 (and I got mates rates in 1992). This is how hot rods and other individually constructed vehicles are registered. For a road reg pitty it would be much easier to start with a frame that is already complianced and mod from there.

can you "club rego" something and sorta take a short cut..

Cause i think you can only raise cars by a max of 6 inch.. but if you would wanna go 8 inch you can if you register it under club rego.. correct me if im wrong.

Club Rego in QLD is for people in a car club that only drive their cars when they are with their club, or going to a club event. It's also cheaper because you are only using it when your club has a cruise or event on. But I know plenty of people using club rego and they drive their cars once, twice a week.. Lol...

If you want to lift/lower your car more than what's legal, you just don't tell your insureance company. A lot of people do this when they put on bigger rims on their cars.

but saying that, it might be different in NSW

damn you missed out there was an rx frame in ebay the other day and it had all the adr plates. A while back I found out some china scooters were coming in to aus with no adr plate and were easy to get rego on them still. I asked vicroads about it but they didn't wanna answer questions as they don't like people finding loop holes lol. But sometimes I think vicroads didn't know any better so they were just handing out the rego plates lol. I think it's not worth the cost.. just get an rx second hand off ebay and mod the hell out of it!

Yup thats the frame! Hrmm they said in there listing it had full adr... but it is pitpro... so who knows it probably was dodgy ha ha
