i saw this crank filter the other day its from Dabomb's bike anyway its got me wondering wether a crank filter does anything for the motor ,does it give relief to the engine by releasing build up pressure? what does it do? is it bad for the engine? this crank filter is a monza sports filter from supercheap auto for cars so would it need to be adapted to fit the head of the engine? anyway it looks preety trick just wondering if it does anything?:)

thats a valve breather
there is no power gain or any thing like that but the word is that they give your engine better engine life

where are they 10 dollers?? i might get one

Hey guys. "Crank breather" is actually a Crankcase breather. It vents the "wind" build up in a 4 stroke engine crankcase & Valve train area to the atmosphere.Less crankcase pressure and windage in theory = more Hp

On race car engines the crankcase breather usually has at least one point connected to the intake manifild to create a "Lower than atmospheric pressure situation in the crankcase and valve train area".Also removes the small amount of Blowby from the piston rings and combustion process.Due to tighter Emission control standards around the world all since the 80s, cars must have a PCV Valve[Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve] fitted to be legal. It a more technical name for the same thing.[Gets rid of Oil fumes venting to the engine bay,They are drawn back into the engine to be burnt with the Petrol.!!In a high revving or Large cubic inch engine this can equal a couple of Hp...

On a Pitty engine you wont see Hp gains, but it wont hurt either !!![Plus looks Cool]

Cheers Brian

Hey dabaomb, (if ya see this thread) is that a temperature strip thingy on your barrel???

I'll be horn swaggled if it is!

Does it work or what?

EDIT- sorry to get off the thread topic....useless IMO.

i thought that was a valve breather an the black tube on the crank case was
a crankcase breather??

would the bottom plate connection (were it joins the head of engine) need to be made or is it a standard thing that comes with these crankcase breather that fits cars and can fit bikes?

The head and crank are not separate air spaces. The crankcase breather hose vents the entire engine. It is well and truly sufficient. You open the end of a compressor hose and see if it can keep up....and it is designed to pump air! Your motor will never pump like this unless the rings and valve seals completely blow and then your not going anywhere fast anyhow. It's just a bit o' bling.

yeh i didnt think it was a power gain or nothing i just want one cause it looks trick and makes the engine last a bit longer ay
