hey ive got a stock crf 50. im trying to get a bit more power/speed out of it without spending much money yet. so far i have moved the needle 1 clip to let in more fuel. i have also got a tb revbox on its way. is there any other simple mods i can do for more power. i dont really want to make it heaps louder too. thankyou

remove the spark arrestor in the exhaust, change the air filter and get a CR5HSA plug rather than the 6 as the 6 can be a bit on the cold side for a stock motor..

raising the needle will just change how early the fuel gets in, it wont add more fuel that main jet does that and they are set rich to begin with anyways, you'll want to lean it out to get more go...

Make sure the clutch is set correctly as a poorly setup auto clutch will slip and wont have the go...

to remove the spark arrestor, how do i do that? i would take the endcap off the exaust and theres the spark arrestor connected to it. do i cut it off flush to the endcap or?
and how do i go about leaning it out? is that another setting on the needle?
thanks

a bigger cam can let it rev up top more , you will sacrifice a bit of bottom end power , but unless your building it to ride around the clothesline it will be fine.

A cost free mod is to advance the ignition , it helped my bike with a bit off the bottom.

one thing people do all the time is over work stock CRF50's & make them worse..

pipe mod, pod filter & cam is as far as a stock engine should be taken to still keep that good feel not a bogging down POS

Yes just cut the wire screen bit off, you'll know when you open it up

leaning it out requires changing jet's , the needle doesnt do anything other than change the feel between low throttle and mid/high throttle, its controlling the over lap between the pilot jet and the main jet.. if you dont understand whats going on there you should leave it alone and do some reading. There are plenty of carbi tuning guides out there but a stock bike is about right as it is. Its on the rich side but they work fine in all conditions.

yer a pipe and cam mite be faster overall down a straight or something , but it sucks ass to ride .. have to be ringing its neck and that's hard to do when you only got 3 spaced out gears..
