hi all where in the hell does one find a mineral based 10-40 4 stroke oil???i cant any any where?? do help thanks guys :(

its just car oil dude, even woolies sell valvoline oils LOL

Motul 1000 is the correct stuff and I am sure you will find others without too much problems. You can get Motul 1000 from a bike shop and it costs about $10 per litre.

car motor oil

what so you can use car motor oil for these bikes i thought one needed motor bike oil, not car oil??? but if i can use car oil thats easy but i would prefer to use motor bike oil as i think its got somthn to do with addatives in car oil not helping a bike with friction in the bore?? ;)

You can run car oil provided it has no friction modyfires added, if you are about to run your bike in use Motul 1000 for the first 2 or 3 oil changes. Then run whatever oil you want but it is best to run a 10w 40 designed for motor bikes. (i know the engine runs on cheap car oil but the engineers who designed the engine and know a bit more about oil than me recomend 10w 40 so I would stick with them).

grade

what grade is the motul 1000 e.g 10w-40 15w-50 ect ect??? also i heard motul 5100 is good 2??

I cant remember and I dont have an empty container. The next time I buy oil I am getting a synthetic oil. I have been running on Motul 1000 (mineral oil) since December to ensure my bike was run in correctly but next oil change I am going synthetic based.

The guys I got my bike from recommended I buy 4 liters of Motul 1000 and use it until it ran out before changing to anything else. I havent chosen which oil I will use next but it will be a motorbike oil.

Motul 5100 10W-40 Synthetic

Motul 1000 20W-50 Mineral based

syn

i dont think that using synthetic is a good idea for run in , its pissn me off that i cant find a 10w_40 in mineral FFS!! the manual says to use 10w-40 for run in but maybe i should ship some from china cause i cant get any over here ffs!!

I think all 10w40 oils have synthetic additives otherwise the temp/visc range isnt achiveable. I just get 10w40 silkolene 4 stroke motorcycle. If you want to make sure its cool just go to honda and get their 10w30 oil they run in the crf50s. Then you guaranteed to be sweet. You could also buy penrite HPR10 Gas it think its a 10w40 or 10w50 it sounds odd but it probably a better oil than anything!

manual

has any one read the manual that came with there bike it specifies a particular type of oil but i cant effen find it??? all the oils mentioned are not a match to the manual.

what motor are we talking here?

my manual just says mineral 10/40 4 stroke,

all this talk about importing oil from overseas seams a bit overboard IMO,

as long as its 10/40 thereabouts youll be laughing, if its just a stock ducar/lifan than oil is gonna be the least of your worries lol,

if its some highly modded thing, than ignore this post haha,

10w/40 mineral is everywhere...have you tried asking at a servo or mower shop?

mineral oil is natural,

synthetic is chemically made, and therefore is far more surperior in its molecule makeup,

sythetic oil is far better in reducing fricton, but sometimes thats not always wanted, ie in bike motors where the piston shares oil with the gearbox, cause the clutch relies on fricton.

thats why you should never run sythetic in a new engine, cause it works so well in reducing fricton it ont allow the rings/piston to bed in properly, which can result in a new engine losing power and burning oil from new,

right on

well said , importing oil i was kiding i was tryn to say the oil they want me to use dosnt exist or if it does maybe china is the only ppl who make it, i will take pics of my manual and post tonight ok guys thanks for the comments :D
