Got a oko 26mm carby with 103 and 38 jets in it but I can't get it idling right do I need to change the needle setting (need help) thanks
 
38 / 102 needle middle clip and 1 1/4 turn out on the mixture should give you a good base setting
 
^yep, do that! if its black and sooty, then you are running to rich. if its a rwally light colour/white, then its running too lean. but its always healthier to run a bit rich than it is lean. good luck mate, and welcome to miniriders :)
 
you are right, the idle is pretty much the just the pilot circuit.
i am guessing it just needs the mixture screw adjusted

raise the idle speed by turning big screw inwards a full turn or 1.5 turns from where you have it.
then adjust the mixture screw until so the revs rise, find the smoothest point and drop the idle back down to a nice speed.
once the pilot jet is sussed, then you can check the main jetting.

if you have a 103 main jet in it now , you wouldn't notice any difference by fitting a 102.

I have tried turning the mixture screw still no luck I get it good for like a few minutes than give it a rev and the revs stay hi and I have to kill it
 
Nar what's that. never really had a carby on my big bike all fuel injected

Well on a bike thats primary fuel delivery system is a carburetor, there is a spark plug, it pretty much ignites the fuel for you. on the opposite side of where the lead goes onto the plug, there will be a bit of curved metal. this is an electrode. inbetween this and a sort of cone-like looking bit about 2mm long. in this 1-2mm gap is where the spark happens. now the colour of this elecrtode should be a kind of gold-brown colour. this means your getting the exact mixture of air and fuel. if you run lean, (which is when the plug is a light/ white colour) your bike will run really hot and cook your piston and rings. if its running rich (Which is when the plug is black/really dark colour) it will "bog" on low rpm and be subject to flooding. (too much fuel at once and it konks out). so that should explain the whole plug identification "theory" for you. hope this helps dude :)
 
I have tried raising the idle screw the pilot screw is at 2 full turns out still no luck some people told me to change the needle setting and some told me not to
 
The plug was really black today I cleaned it and it is bogging at low rpms still can't get the idle right thon
 
That's what I thought checked all that it was good no leaks I might seal all the rubber gaskets that might have a little leak but I don't think it is a leak thanks heaps guy for all the feed back should of joined earlier great site
 
have u checked the rubber adapter for a split cause i did see someone else split theirs from over tightening the clamp... and yeah miniriders is great everyone seems real friendly and more than willing to help which is great. welcome.
