DR 50 won't rev ?

Hi all

i have a dr 50 mini dirt bike that will not rev off of choke regardless of engine temp, it will idle fine off of choke and when on choke will rev freely,but when off choke it won't rev up and bogs down and stalls . i have removed the carb countless times and have cleaned it. i have now bought a brand new carb and set it up but its still the same .i have also replaced the spark plug but still no change :cursing: . anyone have any suggestions as to what to try next ? all help is greatly appreciated .

I would be leaning toward the stator or coil breaking down under load and giving weak spark. With the extra fuel that the choke being on will supply you will only need a weaker spark to ignite it and therefore bike will run with choke on.

Does the bike backfire when free revved in neutral, indicating a poor burn or missing?

when its revved up it does not backfire .

will check the coil as you suggest and go from there .
