Electric Start

Hey guys,

Ive go this bike engine 150cc, 5 speed manual that i just bought for my go kart it comes with electrical ignition ie its got the coil and im going to get the cdi unit. I would like to know how i would go about hooking up a key or button start instead of the kick start. I can give you guys a link so you can see the engine. I have no idea what i need or how to set up the key/button start as there is nothing on the net about it. It would be great if you guys can tell me what i need and how to connect it up?

You can't put electric start on that type of engine. Just use the kick starter.

i cant see the ebay item but if the engine doesnt come standered with the electric start option there isnt much you can do, the easy option for what you want is to just buy a engine already hooked up with electric start out of the box...

i deffinatlly think its gunna be a pain in the but to put electric start on an engine that doesnt come with it or have a place to hook up a starter motor

the main thing i would say here is do your research FIRST not after and find your in the sh**er when you have already spent the cash... not seeing this engine i can give you a definate answer

The engine DOES come with an electric starter

I had a look at both connectors and it seems as though the white coonector connects to the cdi and the green connector comes off the starter. The green connector has 6 wires; a green/black, light blue/red, pink, yellow/red, yellow, and a blue/red. My dilema is that i need a wiring diagram or something as i wouldnt know what or where to connect up especially with 6 wires?? Cheers!

well if it has a starter, then that means you'll have a starter relay, and basically a push start button or whatever you use is a controlled way of jumping the relay, so run pos. and neg. from your realay to your start button and your good.

Hey Guys,

I still got a problem with the wiring of that 150cc zongshen (honda clone) engine. I got the cdi for it, a 12volt 7ah battery and the start switch, that you guys said id needed. Now all i got left is the 5 pin plug that comes off the electric starter. Ive tried different combinations by hooking up the battery to different wires but no reponse. Looked for a wiring diagram and asked the guy i bought it from but no luck. I just need to know where to hook what wires off that 5 pin plug to where?? The colours of the wires are red/black, blue/white, green, white and a yellow. I tried hooking it up differnet ways but nothing, it seems as though i need to hook up the wiring to start the engine using the kick start as i tried to kick start but no spark from the spark plug. So im pretty lost??? If anybody could help me get this thing wired up so i could start it, it would be greatly appreciated.
