Hey guys the metal strap that holds the rear of my exhaust pipe has snapped. I'm talking about the bit that goes around the muffler to keep it in place.

I was wondering would the best idea be to just buy a whole new strap and fit in place or just weld the broken bit back together. Though that would be pretty tricky due to the fact that the broken bit is right up next to the screw that holds it in place.

Also just at the start of the exhaust pipe, the clamp, the two screws holding that in place keep coming loose. One of them has actually fallen off. Twice.

Both pretty minor problems but a good way of fixing them would be appreciated. Also keep in mind the bike is pretty much brand new, two or three rides. It's one of those cheap ebay bikes.

Cheers.

with the muffler clamp i wouls say the best thing to do is make a new one out of thicker material

as for the the nuts coming loose that hold the header pipe to the head get four nylock bolts use the first two like normal an and use the second to as locking nuts for the first nuts or just use two an put some loctite on them

the best thing to do with china bikes is use loctite on all the bolts to stop them vibrating loose or even replace the cheap bolts with stainless steal an high tensile bolts

Oh cheers. I'll have to admit I've only ever heard of loctite on here but I can guess what it is. I'll just google it now. About replacing the bolts with better ones, do you really think it's worth it? Sounds like a bit of work. Seeing as I only ride the bike every other week.

With the exhaust header nuts. It's only got two threads for the nuts. Where should I put the extra ones?

Its called the muffler clamp and it seems that on most bikes this doesnt happen but it happens on both my bikes constantly, I just keep making new clamps out of hoop iron. I would suggest buying a bolt on muffler (if you can find one) if the problem persists.
