I've replaced the throttle and rev cable on my sons mini dirt bike 49cc , it rode fine for about 20 secs but then started dying and cut out,it did this a few times and turning the throttle had no effect. Now when you start it it's on full revs and sounds like it's going to explode and have to use the cut out switch.I've checked the carb + airfilter and that's all fine, can anyone offer any advice .

sounds like ur throttle cable is gettin stuck on full. oil it up and work it, make sure it's got free play.

yes, the slide in the carby is stuck, remove the top and inspect then replace the slide in the correct slot, this slide will only fit in one way.

RD is right, pull the air filter off and look inside the carby if the throttle on the handle bars is in the idle position and the carby is wide open than the guide on the slide isnt in the right position or the pin isnt sitting in the hole leading down to the jet holding the slide open causing the motor to rev on its own

Seems to be alot of that going on.

Perhaps it would be wise to start a sticky thread of a list of items to check when you get a new pitty? Add the carby to it.

:D
