Fast 50 day at Fairbairn, Canberra - $20 - 6th Feb 2011

I just found this on the local Canberra motorcross club Facebook page...

ACT MCC Motorcross
It's official, fast 50 session for big kids. 3pm Sunday 6th Feb on the Pee Wee Track. $20. This is a trial so no interest we won't be doing another one so tell your mates.

I'll be there for sure. Come along and support this and it could become a regular thing.

G'day mate its great that canberra club wants to support minis but nobody will want to ride a peewee track as the pitbikes we ride are much faster and have big travel now. The senior track would be way better fun. peace DD

Everyone in ACT needs to get there butts down to this I don't care if it's on a pee wee track. f they get no interest they won't want to do it again and yeah maybe down the track is a few more come they will let riders on a bigger track.

Hey I was at the ACT MX track today riding big bike and talked to some of the people thare. They said that they want to see what the turn out is, if there is support they will build a 50 Track and try and hold races

Yeah I'll try n get up from Jindy too support ... but Durant has a point a 3 hours drive to ride a peewee track on a midsize doesn't really appeal to me so I'll leave the midsize at home and just bring the 88.

I'll be rockin' an 88. I didn't get a chance to eye ball the pee wee track yesterday. I had a decent crash on my 250 and went home feeling sore and sorry, but I'll be right by Sunday.

ill be there on my motovert with the 155z in it. dunno how it will be tho cos apparently u have to join the club for $80 bucks first then pay ya 20 im not gunna pay 100 bucks cos they might not even have another fifty day. definately worth going out there more numbers that will rock up might get the club thinking they need to get into the 50s

Today was good. Only about 13 bikes by my count, I know there would of been heaps more but unfortunately there was a lot of mixed messages about the cost which kept quite a few away. Given it was the first time, it was priced like this:
$20 and you didn't need to be a member or hold a MA licence.
$10 if you were already a club member.

The club president was pretty interested in it and there is certainly a lot of talk about holding more in future.

As far as the track goes, I reckon it was ideal for 10" or 12" bikes but it was probably a smidge small for the midsize bikes. I don't know what they thought, just an observation.

They took us up to a proposed location where they could build a proper fifty track. It's not to bad and wouldn't need a real lot of work or changes to smooth it out and get some fifty sized jumps added.

I've got some video which I'll put on Youtube and post the link in here when it's done.

Im second from the right.

things i now know from that day:

- I'm not fit
- 32 PSI is too much tyre pressure
- tabletops are hard to master
- trying to turn on sand is hard (even harder with 32 PSI LOL)
- i still hurt from muscles ive not used for years and
- i wanna do it again!
