So, FPM now owns a 1982 Aluma-Lite RV with a 300" Ford Six inline. While it gets around jut fine, I AM The GDFP;) I know AU got a bunch of them. Any one seen/have any cool intake or exhausts for one? Edelbrock made an S.P.2-P intake with long runners, but they're rare as pimple-less 14 year-olds.
Pics would be great.

the 300cub ford 6 isn't all that popular over here. there like an oversized 250 pre- crossflow (log head)

but back when i was a concrete-er (20odd years ago) we had a 4x4 F series truck with a 300 in it, 500 2 barrel holley and a set of extractors.. nothing fancy.

but gee they got some torque, specially with the super low 1st gear which was never really needed. just take off in 2nd..

turbo or a supercharger would really help on these i recon, and if it isnt injected then wack on a delco 808 and some matching injectors... finding someone that can tune the 808 is pretty easy..

Thanks, Sean. I knew a lot of Sixes made it to AU, but wasn't sure aboot the 240(?) and 300. I'll likely keep a carb, and would REALLY like an also-rare 2305 series progressive 2-bbl Holley on a modded SP2P. Asking for a lot, since both are hard to even find pics of much less the items. The 2-pc manifold setup makes me nervous, so I thought of taking a slab of 3/8 steel plate and fabbing a set of shorty headers and a long-tube intake as one big lump, having it coated. With the low revs, a small turbo would be nice, and pretty easy to mount.

There is a great place on your side of the globe with heaps of info on those big ford sixes that we didnt really get her in Australia. They even sell parts.

check out: Classicinlines.com

my old 1970 F100 and my 72 f100 both had 240's standard in them
good boat anchors...too big, too heavy, too hard to get bits for.
they were also known as canadian motors here,
they also used the new process? 4 speed manual, with the ultra low 1st gear.
the old school speedway guys here used the 4 spd gearbox with just 1 forward gear in it for racing, they said they are unbreakable...

best way to upgrade power is to take the 240/300 out and fit a V8 302 cleveland or 351 cleveland.
i did this to both of mine.
the bellhousing on the 6's is the same as the V8, the 6cyl flywheel will fit the V8 but im pretty sure you need to have it rebalanced to suit the V8. clutch and gearbox can be reused too
i used the standard cleveland v8 falcon flywheel and clutch
then you just need to make some 75mm square engine mount points and weld them to the crossmember.
and lengthen a couple of wires for the dizzy, coil and temp sender
and hook up a new exhaust

i sold my 70 F100 to a mate and i fitted a 460 and C6 Auto into it for him, that truck took off sideways with bulk wheelspin no problems

Good to see another ford fan on here. All fords take off with bulk wheel spin. Its the ford way in Australia

In a 7000lb RV, a 302, especially a C-head, would be a tremendous POS. They 300 will outpull a 302/351 all day. If it were to get an 8, it would be a 400C, with Aussie heads. It would be crowded, as it's a van-based unit. But thanks. And an actual thanks to fatBB:)

I'm gonna replace the 3-speed manual with a 4-speed OD, either auto (wife won't push the extra pedal, maybe a good thing?) or a manual (easier swap). Creeper not needed with the 4" stroke;)

Pretty tough to spin the tires with 7' of rear overhang. lol
I've been a Chrysler Hemi guy, with a ton of Chev builds (cheap power, here). Only Ford I built was a 90 Mustang with a 351W, AFR heads. 3.73 gears, C4, full exhaust, DOT tires, power windows, pump gas 11.90's on the motor and 10.70's with a 125hp NOS shot.

There is no way a 300 will out perform a 302/351. Dont know that yas do over there but 302/351 is superior to a 300 straight 6

Consider the application & do some research, then we'll be on the same page;)
YES, a 302 will win a dragrace, even in a pickup, but put the truck on a trailer, hook it to another truck, find a nice grade, and see which engine crests the hill quicker. F700's never used the SB, but had a ton of inlines. I'll look for a couple dyno charts. "Area under the curve" is where to look. Course of action is set, any way:flamesmile:

A chunky old 302 will out do a 300 any day but keep in mind i aint been to america and am only talking about here in Aus and im a true blue ford v8 fan.

it sounds like you'll just need to bore the 300, fit some o/s dished top pistons and hang a decent sized snail (turbo) or two off the side of it then

I not going to get in the the 6 v 8 debate...

I just like my old falcon and its original 221 inline 6.

The_GDFP thought post this link just in case like me it takes you forever to find the forum section.

Yep, them little ones, especially some of the neat-O AU stuff, are fine mills.
I've scoured that forum for a while, before. Some neat stuff. Frenchtown Flyer is local, and that thing he drives is awesome.

A pair of turbo's off 2.0-2.3L fours, or easier to plumb, a single Grand National unit off an F700 manifold would be swell. Maybe use the lower half of an EFI intake manifold and a tube plenum?

It's a 30 year old camper, so I guess I shouldn't get all FP on it, but just want a little better mileage via more torque and longer legs. Pretty easy even w/o boost. If it looks trick at the races or campgrounds, with the hood up, all the better.

comp, cam and carb would be easiest solution. and those webers in the above video would be nice but probly break the pocket lol.. there like more than $1000 each new over here.

or 500 holley draw through turbo setup, wouldn't bother lowing comp just use low boost of around 6psi. that would give awesome results for torque..

Yep, yep, yep:)

Mot likely won't go overboard. It needs to reliably and safely haul my family to destinations far & wide. Uncle Roy drove it over 100k mile as-is, so it can be done. Fuel costs have risen (insert socio-political rant) too much to not take advantage of some upgrades. Trans has to be pulled for a clutch disk at the least, so adding some legs is the first step.

Weber's are cool, but impractical for a sub-2k torque boost I seek. 350 Holley would meet the needs of 300CI@<4kRPM, at least N/A.

One of the pre-GN Buick setups may feed it enough and be a less-tricky plumbing job with little fab work.

Ford Ecoboost has a bunch of electronics, but MAN does it make good use of 3.5 liters!
