Hi All! This is my first post on this site and it looks pretty active so I hope this will be my new home where I can learn and then help others from my experience.
I am looking at purchasing a 110CC pit bike for my 10 year old, and lets be honest, for me too!
There are a couple of used ones local to me and then there are the new ones on websites. I am looking for some advice on a "First" purchase. I do not want to sink a bunch of money into the first bike because this is something new to me and my boys, hence the attraction to a used one. Both used ones are no name brands. One needs some work, but is VERY cheap ($199). Supposdely it needs both fenders, a centrifugal clutch (its been upgraded to a semi auto tranny for kids) and a rear tire. I am looking at this bike due to the cheap price plus it will give me some wrench time on it to learn about it.
The other used one looks much nicer and supposedly has $700 worth of upgrades. The bike looks much nicer than the first. Actually, this bike is a 70cc and the owner says it can go 55mph.
I have been looking at the SSR 110cc bikes (new), but I am a little hestitant to spend $500+ on a bike that I am not sure will be used a whole heck of a lot. Any of you that have kids know that the shinny new toy gets a lot of attention for a while, but then may wear off.
What do you suggest I do based on your experience? Also, where is the best place to look for parts for these bikes?
Thank you for any help, tips and links you can provide!
