Okay i have a set of kayaba forks on my rm 125 the problem is the top tube Not where the seal seals.. is rusting out or well i think there aluminum so there electrolysis out (if that's what its called)
anyway there still strong and i like the feel of the forks (but if there is a upgrade let me know) i would just like to know a way to stop them rusting so i can cover to rust up with some vinyal or decals of some type

so are you saying the Hard Anodising has been damaged and the alloy is oxidising?
use some of this on it once you have cleaned it up with a wire wheel/then fine W&D paper

if you strip all the colour off both forks,
you could seal them with the clear, then use the Candy colour you want, then re-clear them to seal and protect.

acid base wheel cleaner will do the trick stripping it back.
then sand/smooth any damage, then run over it with some scotchbrite to get the brushed finish

Heres the damage im working with so can i just paint over it after sanding it off? i just want to paint it and then wrap it with some offcut vinyl or better yet print my own

yeah the paint in the link i posted is best suited for the job, as it is designed to go directly onto unprimed surfaces.
it dries rock hard, and needs a decent hit to mark or chip it.

a cheap way out of it would be to coat it in clear engine enamel
it will stop the chalky oxidisation coming back, but it will chip off eventually.

the damage on the forks, is it deep ?
you could just fill it with bog and sand it back flush to fill the scratches/gouges,
then paint it with a solid colour (eg black) and you wouldn't even know they were damaged

I think i will have to just engine enamel it for now, its quite a bit deep if or when im selling the bike (was meant to be sold but im slowling falling in love with it) i will either bog it or just spin the fork around
