headset problems

i recently got a bike off a mate and after looking at it the headset is a jumbled heap of crap is there any upgrade i can get or a new headset as this one looks like one off a 60s bicycle it is a alloy custom frame with fast ace forks i think

any help would be great and im a fitter and turner so any parts that need making i can do myself

im at work and wont be able to get pics till tomorrow but it an alloy frame from razor back imports in geelong im fairly sure and fast ace forks

im guessing there the same style as a push's headset, pretty common on some china bikes and i dont think theres anything wrong with them.
as for upgrades im not too sure, as it depends on the ID of the headstem tube and the OD of the headstem bolt..
