Heyy
im looking at powdercoating my frame and spokes?
Does anyone know how the powdercoating holds up on the frame and spokes?
Is powdercoating stronger than the original paint on the frame???
cheers

Stronger than paint, alot cheaper also.

Never done spokes but had a fair bit of other parts done, both mini and big bikes. No complaints here.

Ok thanks minifiGhter:) how much do u reckon it would cost for a frame?

i wouldnt say a lot cheaper, but it is more durable than paint..

you could paint a frame for under $100 most powder coating places want 100+ . i got a quote the other day for my Z frame, they wanted 150 for a pissy little frame like that.. my YZ frame was around 200

and spokes yeah im not too sure, people do do it but spokes stretch so it would have to have some sort of effect on it

Ok thanks sean:) ill have to get a quote from my local powdercoaters, i prob wont get spokes cause of how they stretch:) wat about on the swinger? Has anyone had experience with a powdercoated swinger? I would think that a swinger would get chipped too easy

Depends on who paints it i guess Seano, and what sorta job they do etc.

If you look at my old motard build thread i think i said i paid $60 for a crf70 style frame to be powdercoated gloss black. $30 ea for billet rims.

Make sure you take the items in thought when your getting quotes. So there accurate and know exactly what you want done.

yeah i think you'll want to get a few quotes and once you use one guy keep going back cause they seem to lower there price the more you use them..

i think colour will have a bit to do with price too. candy/metallic colours seem to cost more.

swing arm is up to you, lots of people have done it but i guess it all depends on how you look after your bike.. chain rash on the swinga can easily destroy the look

yeah lol wayne those prices are unheard of, so you must of offered a handy as well lol..

iv spoken to heaps of pc places and none were under 100.

and as for painting, anyone can hang off a spray gun and get a job job. and as for prep work paint stripper, gerni and etch primer is all that is needed

Ok thanks for your help guys:) appreciated
