I made a ramp about a month ago and am wanting to get dirt for a lander now, but i was just wandering, would 1 regular truck load of dirt (i think its 12 tonne or sumthin) be enough for a landing ramp for a 1m high ramp? And would it make it long enough to be safe, so if i over jump it, i still have a fair bit of distance before i flat land?

Thanks.

yes I think 12 tonnes would be perfect and if it was too much you could make another jump.

I was readin through Snitchy's "It Has begun (new track)" video in the videos part of this forum and read Grahams post that said: "if u want to make a decent sized table top use pallets and carpet then dirt saves alot of work ...let me know cause i can get heaps of pallets"

I was just wandering wat does the carpet do?

Thanks for your help :)

Put down the pallets, then once the gaps are filled with dirt put the rug down and cover that.

It just helps keep it flat and firm

I was just watchin a pit bike video on youtube and noticed that they had what looked like mats covering the landing. What does this do?

YouTube - MSO X6R in Action

In the video you can see that some jumps in the background have it on them and i was just wandering what they would be used for and should i put any mats down for the runnup like the crusty demons do? And if so what do i use?

the reason we used to use carpet or mats on our dirt jumps was to make the jump a lil bit stronger.
Having carpet on ur landing will stop the landing ramp dirt gettin all churned up and made soft. Last thing u want is to land on a ramp thats all boggy sand.
Or you could just keep a hose and shovel handy and after every session spend 20-30min wetting down and compressing the dirt on the landing again.

me and my mates use carpet for bmx jumps to make it smooth but thats not the case for a pitty, and also if we cased the jump it would reck it AS much
