I am working on a C102 Honda 50 that needs a new ignition and key. It is a five wire unit. I have the wiring diagram for the bike but got an aftermarket switch and, outside of the hot and ground, I am not sure of the wires coming out of the switch. Is there are particular order these switches are wired, a normal convention? Such as the black with white stripes are for this, yellow for that?

Thanks for the welcome. I am retired but work at a small motorcycle shop in Terre Haute, IN a few days a week. I am chief cook and bottle washer at the moment. The guy who owns the shop is around 70 and has accumulated about 80 older bikes and we are in the process of trying to sell them. Do mechanical work as well although I am limited on electrical and deep engine problems. The last mechanic that worked part time just left as he had a good job offer that he needed to take. I have done restoration projects on Japanese bikes for years as a hobby.

I found the wiring diagram for the C102, but I need to correspond that to the switch and those wires are unmarked. Wasn't sure if there was a way to tell what each wire was.

Do you have a picture of the back of the new switch, or a link to the switch you bought ?
And have you still got the original switch?
Is the orientation of the wire's the same ?

Not sure if these pic's help
