I heard it was illegal to walk your mini bike in the streets to places.
Is it true?

yes its true, and yes cops can fine you and even take you to court. well it is in south australia. This is a true fact as i was talked to by a cop when i got busted for no licsence, no insure and no rego riding my mini bike. so just be careful about were you ride ya bike and try not to piss ya neighbours off because they are the ones that will call the cops on ya.

Doubt that, Ive been told a few times (3 times in fact) to walk my bike home. The reason you might get chatted to is, there aren't many off road places around and how far are you going to be walking that bike ? 30-40km ?

According to the council its not true though, what happens if your bike breaks down? And the cops allways tell you to walk it home when you get caught!

Footpaths alongside roads are part of the road. Pushing a motorcycle along the footpaths means it is on the road.

To be on a road, a motorcycle needs all the usual equipment to be fitted and working. For example, lights, brakes, brake lights, horn, speedometer, good tyres etc. These are required even if the motorcycle is being pushed.

screw that i wouldnt get into much trouble anyways though being in the hills not in the centre of adelaide lol if i lived there i wouldnt even be able to have a motorbike because of that. my dad just wouldnt let me

I live in the hills like you and Ive done 25k's on the road in one day and not seen a cop!

In one day I rode through a school, got chased by an old guy in a commodore, ridden on an oval and tennis caught and got chased away buy another old guy!, rode all through a conservation park and still didnt see any cops!

Push bikes dont have brake lights horn etc, whats the difference between a moto with its motor off and a push bike getting pushed along ? If i cop did you for pushing something down the road he's really grabbing for straws

i was walking my pitty with the engine running last week and got a $350 fine

im not bitching about getting the fine im just saying that yes you probably can but if its not running i doubt it

Yea here in NSW if your pushing the thing then you cannot get done i've on numerous times been pushing mine along and had cops drive by and not cared in most cases i've only once had a cop pull over to see what i was doing.

Just asked me things like "your not going to ride that on the road are you".

I just told him i pushed it to my mates place where we were working on it and i was pushing it home.

I got caught riding mine in a public area (church carpark lmao) and he told me all this crap about not being able to walk it cause i control the speeds.. i for one find that to be a load of ****, and 2 he let me walk it home?

as long as your not sitting on the bike pushing it and the engine is off the cops should not be able to touch you

its funny because when my bike is getting fixed at whiplash u have to walk it past the cop shop to get home and they just look at ya

It sucks that you guys have to push ya bikes tho, i just fold the seats down in my hilux 4runner, load her up, tie her down and off i go. Also means i can carry a jerry of fuel, tools, food, drink and spares:p

it would be totaly illegal to push ya bike on the foot parth or rd verge

but in the same instance it has about 5% to do with the cop and 90% to do with your attitude when he pull's you over

ask any cop about the 20 sec smile test

if you dont great them with a smile he will go out of his way to make your day a pain in the arse

attitude boys is what it's all about

with some of the storys iv heard about where some ppl ride and what they do to there neigbourhood they deseve to get busted

no toatal bull flop... well in wa anyway pushing anykind of moto on the street is no problem, just don't sit on it & roll coz that can get you busted just as much riding

That is a load of crap, they cant book you for pushing your bike!

They may claim that you were riding your bike, then proceeded to push your bike once you noticed them, in all events Police unsally dont act until a complaint has been made by a resident and in any case you shouldnt be riding around the streets!

i agree with NRG you cant get done just for walking with your bike but if your a smart ass they will try to bust you for somthing
