Hey guys bought my first bike today which is a Lifan 125cc.

Anyways I need some help

When I first got the bike home (I bought it from ebay) I put the wheels on and the rest of it and was pretty much ready to ride the sucker when I realised the friggin petrol tank was leaking, It was leaking from the seal between the fuel tank and the fuel tap so I pulled it out and rang the person I got it from and I will be getting a new one tomorrow.

I also noticed I have a few small plastic pipes which would be connected to something at 1 end and nothing at the other (Veiw pic)

The red lines show where the pipes are that dont connect to anything, The red circle at the very top shows where a pipe is usually coming from off the fuel tap and the red circle below that is pretty much the only place that this pipe can reach! If i connect the pipe to the second red circle it kind of bends the pipe in an "S" shape.....Is this right?

Also what gear should I try to kick start my bike in?
How do I wear my bike in?
What are some things I should do BEFORE riding my bike?

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Hi dude im new to this forum aswell
first off go over every basic nut whith a spanner and like you already have check the bike ova
to run in a engine dont over rev it much just cruiz around use normal unleded no hi octain untill after
than clear pipe in the pic is the carbie overflow pipe it should face down jsut cable tie it downwards i reackon

Cheers for the reply.
So the clear pipe is just fine to not be connected to anything?

I will go for a second round of checking nuts and bolts tomorrow.

Also my bikes back brakes seem to lock unless i fiddle with the gears...Any ideas?

Thanks

P.S these are specs of my bike:

1. Linkage rear suspension system, ball raised with long travel alloy reservoir rear gas shock, hand picked for quality
2. 125cc of Japanese designed special edition Lifan High performance engine. (Lifan makes very high quality motors and gearboxes and parts are compatible with Loncin motor parts, We used to sell Loncin powered bikes which are fantastic but found the Lifan to be just a touch better motor) with large Japanese Mikuni 25mm racing carburettor. Ignition is CDI
3. Very tough Tig welded frame in low sheen black
4. Delta box reinforced swingarm extra strong, take a look at the pics to see
5. Gold 'Long travel' Forks with all alloy lower part of forks
6. Hydraulic wave disc brakes front and rear
7. Racing exhaust, with real grunty sounding tone
8. All alloy handlebar and detachable alloy crossbar
9. All machined billet alloy front triple clamps
10. This built extra strong bike and frame can hold 150kg of load
11. Gearbox is Honda International Standard, 4 speed manual, 1st gear down, neutral up, then the other 3 gears up
12. Colour coded racing rims, 14 inch Front 12 inch rear (Front tire 19 inch, rear tire 18 inch)
13. Chain guide to keep chain in check
14. Chromed solid steel fuel cap (not plastic)
15. Seat height 75cm

Yeh the clear hose is an overflow for the carby just let it hang down and the thing up the top of the carby where it looks like a hose should go thats were the hose from the petrol tank goes. and about the back wheel locking are you shure it wasnt in gear it has to be in neutral to roll freely put it in neutral by clicking it down till it doesnt go any more and then click it up just a bit and it should go into neutral and roll freely. hope i helped.

Cheers for the replies guys!

I am putting the new tank in right after I finish this ciggy so I will give it a burn and see how we go.
Probably is the gears cause im still trying to figure them out

Thanks
Adam

its a over flow pipe... and it is connected to something, if it wasnt how could it be connected?

Go re-read my original post.....always one in the bunch!!

Will let you all know how it goes,
Thanks again
Adam

I just tried to ride it and kept getting kicked off:mad:

I don't think i will get the hang of manual

Dude,

Get back on! Find some one else with a bike to show u the ropes.!

Where do u live, if u ask nicely maybe someone on this forum will take u for a run.:D

yea dude dont give up, there piss easy to ride once you get the hang of it, took my nine year old brother about half an hour to change gears smoothely. you just need someone to show you the basics

My next door neighbour came out today and showed me how to change gears properly....He said that you sqeeze the clutch then click it in to gear and then slowly let out the clutch and then give it some throtle

I live in Kariong on the Central Coast and there are a heap of motorbike riders here as we have a track behind our house.

P.S I need to get a longer fuel line, which is a good one to get? Should i get one with the "spring" outter casing?

cheers
Adam

I will take it out tomorow and see if it is still acting like a bitch....When it kicks it kicks friggin hard as i found out today.

Once i get the hang of the gears im sure it will be a lot of fun, Can't wait to piss one of my neighbours off!

Took it out today and got the hang of the gears in about 15 minutes, I also noticed there was a small amount of smoke coming out of the part where the exaust is connected to the engine....what could this be from?
