hey guys,
as u all from melbourne would kno, 2day we had winds over 100 k's per hour, and when i got home 2day and i foudn that mi birds cage had rolled off the table and split into 10 pieces, the bird was not to be found so i am hoping she is under shelter somewhere and will show up soon.:( :(
anyway im rlly depressed now,
and i kno that the chances ar 1/1,000 but if any of u guys see mi bird around hampton let us kno, lol. im gonna put up posters or something at a milkbar about 5 houses down:(

Was it a rare bird or something?

If it gets as far as Adelaide, I'll also let ya know. :)

Yeah its sad to loose a pet but atleast as a bird its free and can live happily in the wild unlike a dog which would get shot or run over.

hope its trained enough to find its way home.

THAT HAPPENED TO ME ONCE!!! i had a cockatiel and his cage broke, ended up at a mates place the next day! so you may have some luck! hopefully!

we have a fully trained one too, only lives in the house and it got out the front door last year, we found it 6 hours later, 3 blocks away,

so theres still hope, goodluck mate

thanks guys, im gonna put up lost posters and a reward 4 her 2moz well we put her outside almost everyday so it would hav a good idea of wat the yard looks like and we hav a big tree u can't miss. only prob is there was a wind that almost blew ME over 2day so it could hav whackedhe into a fence or something, sure do hope not, im hoping she was smart and just found a good place to keep warm as it was raining and a place that was safe. we hav a big park down the road so i will check it wput 2moz, i rlly luv mi bird, she used 2 always sit on mi shoulder while i was replying 2 ppl's threads on miniriders, lol.

lol, this bird is special 2 me man. plus i need 2 buy a new cage for over 100 bux, if it doesn't turn up then we r gonna get 2 baby cockatiels and a rlly big cage and not put it outside and if she ever turns up then all 3 will be happy but with the big wind for all i kno it would be 10 k's away...

Hope ya find your bird mate, good luck with it all eh? Sux when you lose a pet.

There's a pretty good chance that she will hang around or show up again one day - I breed and hand raise Rainbow Lorries and have had hand tamed cockatiels - and lost a few as well :( - so I know exactly how it feels .

IF you buy another one - you can tame it pretty quickly by gently grabbing hold of it in the dark and getting it used to the smell of your hand , then pat it and tickle its neck - at first they'll try to bite you - but then when they realise you're not gunna harm them - they gain trust for you . The females are especially loveable but the males can be spiteful grumpy little mugs and still try to bite sometimes .

If you want a bird with REAL character - get a baby Rainbow and hand raise it - they're class nutters - Ha Ha Ha !

it actually showed up!!! YAY
what happened is well behind our house if a school for "special" people and they happen to have many birds. one cockatiel and a few budgies canaries etc. and she must hav heard them chirpin and wouldda already known thye are there cos she must chirp 2 'em almost everyday so mi mum knows some1 dwon the street that does something for the school, does the garden or something and she tol her and then found out who 2 tell and a day or 2 later there was a massage on the answering machine sayin they had found our little bird! i was so worried, i never did do that in the dark with her but she is very tame, sits on ur hand, shoulders whenever but she is a cheeks little one.lol. rainbow lorries are pretty awsome birds but i thought they were only a wild bird...

Rainbows ARE wild Aussie native birds but you can buy them as pets - you get National Parks and Wildlife papers with them ! The hand taming in the dark is for adult cockatiels or any new cockatiel that is flighty , frightened , and bites savagely - you grab them gently in the dark and put up with the pain of their bite until they relax and get warm - then they start to realise that you aren't a threat but friendly and stop biting - then after about a week of doing it they come around to being tame quickly and before long , it's almost the same as if you hand raised them from the egg.

It's great to hear that you found her !!!!! Now all you need to do is change the thread to ~ I'm RLLY HAPPY !
