Inner rotor kit for my engine?

Hey this has probably been asked a million times but what are the disadvantages of an inner rotor kit. i cracked my magneto plate yesterday n either have to replace it or get an inner rotor kit im just worried if i get the inner rotor kit it will wear the engine out real fast or somethine like that. i have a jailing 125cc oil cooled manual start any gear engine. If it is a good idea are they pretty easy to install? cheers
