I have a new 250cc atomik hummer and have riden it for about 5 hours all up and i have noticed that inside the exhaust the inside wall that has the holes in it has a gap where the join is and it is showing the feathery stuff inside it.

The other day i reved it and there was a loud bang and i saw a flame come out.Is my exhaust meant to have a gap in it like that? And if i need a new exhaust end can i use any i find that fits the pipe? Thanks.

Yeah thats normal. That feathery stuff is just muffler packing. It will slowly burn off eventually. The flames are just unburnt fuel ignighting in the exhaust as the engine fires on the exhaust stroke as well as the compression stroke. Totally normal. The reason there is unburnt fuel in the exhaust is because of the poor port matching of the carby, head and manifold which lets fuel puddle up on the ledges which ends up not burning too well as it is not atomized properly. This is not really a problem but can be reduced by port matching the mentioned parts. Will make it idle and accelerate better also:)

yeh when i first started the bike the muffler packing burnt and flew out of the muffler but it is the huge slit that goes the whole way down the muffler. It is joined at the tip(end) and opens up down the length of the muffler. The muffler packing i can see is on the inside and it goes all the way round.
