Jumping into neutral

Hey guys, my friends bike engine is having some issues and I just need a bit of guidance and help so I can help him fix it. cheers

Engine:
140cc lifan, air cooled

Issue:
When you are riding in any gear the bike randomly jumps back into neutral. Im unsure if its more prone to over bumps and what not but it happens enough to annoy the living daylights out of you.

Its also found that when changing gear from 3rd down to 2nd the bike will sometimes jump into neutral then as well.

Ive tried looking for a solution and I have seen a thread about a gear star or something but any help or directions would be much appreciated.

yeah sounds like a gear star problem..

is the gear lever pretty easy to move compared to others?

Compared to my bike the gear lever feels normal. If it is the star whats the best option. new gear star or fix it manually.

you can try and sand the centers of the shift star to make them a little deeper. this helps them stay in gear..
