MKV Head ache

This is a question for a computer savy freinds here on MR,

I've recently aquired some MKV files that I am now trying to watch and my player plays about 10 - 15 seconds of the file and then restarts?


Any ideas?

I'm using VLC and some MKV player I'm not sure the type?

maybe you need to update vlc?

if the file has not sucessfully been transfered correctly they will still show up on your computer as 4.7gb or whatnot but the file itself is empty so vlc restarts because it has no where to go

I thought that so I deleted my old copy of VLC and downloaded a brand new one and I thought the files might have been buggered so I obtained new ones
To no joy!

Still stumped...

have you got all the mkv codecs?
google it, also are you on mac or windows?

I use freemake video converter to convert them to MPG's so I can watch on the xbox media centre

If for some reason that doesnt work, I just watch them straight from MKV Player...

that takes forever.. you could install xbmc on your computer... its a sexy program also
vlc has its issues anyway i would not rely on it for anything.. .i find it staggers alot with hq audio and video

Edit: Try the files no someonw elses PC first and just check the files arne't corrupt?
I run windows media player + CCCP havn't had a problem yet, and I download a fair bit of crap...
Sidenote, just got unlimited plan hooked up 2 weeks ago, apparently i need more than my previous 200gb LOL

I used to convert them too. But then I got jack of that and moved the pc to the living room! Wireless keyboard n mouse n bobs your uncle!

I wouldn't of thought they were corrupt because I got em from a reliable source and the second time I got them (2 different shows mind you) I got them from a different mirror. Usually the place I get em from is 99.9 % perfect?

Will download that tonight and try media centre!

The whole episodes are there and you can fast forward to different parts but again will only play for about 10 - 15 seconds,

It's kinda ****ting me cause I've waited year for it!

im on 500gb... i never go over because i only have 2tb of storage lol my pc is pretty quick so games are my thing

^I hear ya, i only have 2tb too (part of which is mirrored...) but hey I hit it once + with the new plans it was cheaper than having phone line rental + internet on top which was $80, now both together inc unlimited net for $60 = WOOT

thats on adsl 2 yeah?
im on cable so it costs a little more but even with 3 computers on youtube hd (with a good router) it load pre quick

i get 3mb /s down and 140 kb up... its consistant but im in a bad spot for internet connectivity

LOL. Probly that speed cause nobody knows what the internet is round there. I got 35down on my HTC when I first got it, but that was when it was the first 4g phone and had only been released for about a week, not like that anymore though
