so............ ive managed to find a x4r frame forks swinga tank and plastics for 140 bucks, and im picking it up friday. this has changed my build plans so the 160ho i bought from kosta will be going onto this frame now. i just want to check a few things with you guys. am i correct in thinking the x4r is a klx copy and all parts ie exhaust and plastics are klx style? if so will a yoshi or pro circuit designed for a klx frame be a straight bolt on?
if there is anything that should be replaced immediately like the cheaper bikes?
il post some pics up of the frame etc when i pick it up ;)

The x4r's are a decent bike, and like you said a klx copy, allot of klx items will fit it, just make sure to check it all out first, lol. As fotr anything to replace, well the x4r's are a decent enough bike, they come with a dnm shock iirc? if u wanted to be really picky, do the forks with iether zokes or black labels,k and put a v2 on your HO or just get the 64mm bore and kick a55!
But otherwise, they are a good bike, a few users on her have them too: H. Hussien and Chickenwingz, but for 140 bucks, you cant go wrong! Good score!!
 
^^ why stop at the 64mm bore, go for the 67mm and have 201cc
 
i was stoked when the bloke told me how much he wanted for it :)
im set for a rear shock cause i bought that elka from roost666, and ive got the adjustable forks that come standard on the lxrs so should be ok for suspension. im debating options on head (tb,ported 4 valve or taki) but dont reckon il bbk it, dont really fancy gearbox issues.... when the ho gets to be less exciting il save for a 190 ;).......................... there will definitely be a build thread for this project in the near future
 
nice one mate, look foward to the build thread :) looks like it'll be a kik a55 bike, with the elka and black labels (they r the same as lxr forks) a 190 would sit nice and snug in there!!

Your thinking way too hard about the head. lol. Just get a V2 and be done with it. Your more likely to have gearbox issues from a 4 valve head. Just get an auto taki decomp cam. If there is even a taki head (which I'm not even sure there is) it would cost well over a grand. That's the point where your better off buying a 190.

pitster pro us had a taki head kit for them im pretty sure, but the tb head seems the go, just wanted something a little different ;)..... and they do cpme with the black labels so ive been informed just so happens that ive got a brand new set sittin here as well so i reckon il put the brand newies on and the second hand ones on the atomik frame................... im keen as mustard to get down and pick it up :)
 
finally had some time to take pics of the frame i picked up, there is quite a few parts missing but seems like a well built frame :)
i need to find one of these as it was missing from the box of bits that came with it


also need to hunt down some engine mount brackets as the holes are quit slopped out


the front and rear guards are munted as is the white brace that goes under the rear fender


i was quite happy to see what appears to be a dnm rear shock which will go on my girlfriends build
 
looks alright mate, got a lot of potential :) as for engine mount brackets, i would just fabricate my own, i mean you have the template there anyway!
Look foward to seeing it all un-fold :)
 
to be honest blender id rather go with factory items or better, i think the mounts on it are a home fab job anyway and i wouldnt trust them as a template. maybe if someone with a lxr could measure there mount brackets for me? then i would know if those in the link would fit.....
 
perhaps you could e-mail DHZ for the measurments of the lxr engine mount brackets, and compare to the ones on the bike atm?
 
yeah at that price no way!! but i cant see no reason as to why the lxr mounts woulnt fit ? i know they're different styled bikes, but the engine bolt layour is the same.
 
and that rear subframe extension looks like it wouldn't take much to straighten
