Hi, i'm a newby to the motor bike scene and im after my first bike, never really riden to much so dont really now alot about them, so just lookin for some advice on what to get.

Seems how im not really gonna be riding around a whole lot and i dont really have a lot of money to spend im looking for a realible cheap bike. i've been lookin at pitpro, they seem to be a cheap bike, Lookin at the 250 they got and citymotorbikes in ferntree gully have got it for $1500 which is around the price that i want to spend, are these pitpro bikes a good bike for the money that ya pay?? And are there anyother cheap brands of bikes like pitpro that i could be lookin at aswell?

i've heard that somethings on the pitpros are pretty weak and need to be replaced before going for good rides, such as brake and clutch levers, handlebars, is this true or just a load of cr**??

Thanks

Kingers

go with a pitpro 140 or the mso theyre both good and dont need replacements and since ur going for 1st bike i woodnt go the 250 plus u cant rly jump the 250 theyre more of just a trail bike

use ebay and look for dhz's try the mp 140(monster pro) or the 150 or perhaps a pimpit gunslinger theyre good as bikes especially for the price but yea ive met alot of ppl with dhz havent heard anything but good

Welcome kingers to the world of mini's

now b4 we get started mate ,what we need to know is

:experience >>good or bad?
:mechanical knowledge>>good or bad?
:weight ?
:age?
:typ or terrain you shall mostly be riding ?
:transport to the place to ride?
:mini bike or full size? IE a pit bike or more of the 250 larger typ

all of those questions will help us help you in your decision ,we have a very large range on knowledge

from the 50cc pitbikes right up to the larger style ,so if you can answer some of those questions i have asked ,we can most certainly help you in your decision on what is going to suit you and be best bang for buck

cheers SnItChY

Thanks for all the replys guys,

SnItChY in answer to all your questions

experience: Not really riden around on bikes alot so i wouldnt say great, but i wouldnt say bad either, i can control a bike on trails and that.

mechanical knowledge: i know a fair bit about engines and the way they work and all that sorta stuff, so i would say good and my used to be a mechanic anyway so he would know almost everything anyway

weight: 80 Kg

age: 19

terrain you shall mostly be riding: Wouldn't be using it for jumping or tricks and stuff would mostly riding around on trails and fire acess tracks and me bro goes 4wd so prob around 4wd tracks and that sorta stuff to.

transport to the place to ride: Would be a trailer

mini bike or full size? Dont really want a small bike im looking for more of a full size type of bike would maybe consider a 3/4, dont want a minibike.

Thanks for all the help guys

get an xr250 if you look hard enough you might find one pretty cheap and they are about the most reliable bike ive ever heard of and they are a good bike to learn and improve your skills

yes IMO i would stear clear of a cheap chinny 250
your way better of as roost stated xr or somethink along those lines would be best
i would be looking for somethink in a 4 stroke ,best to learn on

i would look for somethink older so u save a few bucks ,dont spend heaps on a first bike as you either come up with these problems

no place to ride
loose interest
no 1 to ride with

so once you have got over the thrill of riding a bike ,and still feel like your enjoying the sport ,then it's time to upgrade

by this time you will have figured that either ,you want a light zippy bike to run on tracks and jump

or more of an enduro typ situation where you just want to ride trails with mates

so IMO look for a bike that you like post a link to it here and we can tell you some pointers on what to expect from your likely prospect

hope this helps you out

hmm ok, can i just ask why you say to stear clear of a cheap chinny 250?

I hade a look at bikes in my price range of about 1.5K and majority of them are around they 1985~1989 sorta bike and i was looking for something that would be a realiable bike and wouldnt have to much mechanical problems and imo i would think that a bike 20yrs old would come up with a few probs, I could be wrong?? The only sorta bike i really know a bit about is the pit pro 250, thats kinda what i was lookin at, whats some other bikes that may intrest me??

Thanks

This is the only 250 china i would consider is the Ciniworx cxf250. A full road legal version is in the making aswell.
CXF250

But really I would just go for a midsize 150cc pitty as they have just as much go as the 250s

I went down to city motorbikes today and had a look at a pitpro 2009 250 sxr for $2000. Has anyone been on one of these bikes or owns one of these bikes? if so whats your thoughts/opion on the bike?

I Thump, Whats the price of one of the Ciniworx cxf250?

Hey Kingers, yeah pitpro 140's and ya know Pimpit and MSO are good too. I wouldnt go for the pitpro 250...no good for jumps ****** frame

yeah but i not gonna be usin it for jumps and stuff, i more or less just wanna ride around bush trails, fire acess tracks and 4wd tracks. what needs to be done to these bikes before they get ridden properly? and how expensive is it to mod it to give it a bit more power? keep in mind i dont want to go replacing pistons and valves, that sorta stuff.

Thanks
