Hi y'all

Just signed up. Looking at purchasing a pit bike real soon and coming to a mini-track near you.

Looking at something like a Pitpro to motard and get involved in some mini bike racing. Its not going to knock my socks off at 200+kph around a race track, but it'll keep the fun in me. I'm into racing and trackdays (check the sig), but my next race isn't until November due to the winter season. I need to keep up my stamina, so toying around on a pit bike is for me.

wow thats awsome welcom to the site, the pitpro might not be the right chose for racing i would get somthing a bit better like a motovert or genuine thumpstar.

cheers trashy

Thanks for the tip trashy. I'll Google for details on those bikes. I'm not really looking at top end pitbikes, just something better than average. I'd like to say I'm only in it for fun, but I race and eventually I'll be competitive on the mini scene. Speaking of which, I can't spend too much or I'm eating into my racing budget. :)

Whats the price range for those bikes mentioned above?

Looks like something like a Thumpstar Pro 125 would be in my price range. Any pros or cons I should know about?

Oh, and I've browsed egay a bit and keep reading about the "famous Ducar engine" and the Lifan engine. Is this a good engine as the hype says it is?

I'm looking at bikes like this: Used THUMPSTAR PRO 125 Motorcycles For Sale

And this: eBay Australia: 2007 OUTLAW 140CC LIFAN OIL COOL PITBIKE, GPX THUMPSTAR (item 230118027757, end time 26-Apr-07 16:49:33 AEST)

I'd need something with a seat height of about 75cm.

Sup ruby welcome to the site.

I'm not sure if that first link is a genuine 125 PRO thumpstar.

Thats what I'm here for; to learn whats **** and whats hot. How you not sure its a genuine?

Umm, wrong: its not a Busa, and who says I'm a chick?

Cheers. Gives me more of an idea what to look for.

So are most bikes on ebay just crap generally?

Welcome to the site bro, hope you get your new bike soon..
Speaking of new bikes i just got my new atomik nitrous today :D

sorry i just asumed you were a chick cause of your sig

what is it a gixxer600??

whats your budget?

if its around $1000 i reckonmend the pitpro 140cc just loctite all the bolts tune it up abit an then its a good decent bike to play around on
but if you want some thing to race or big arse jumps id go for a motovert

I assumed you took the sig as being me. The track shot is me though. Sorry it was a little funny/cruel of me to let it drag on a bit. LOL

My race bike is a 2002 GSXR600 with a 750 Showa front end with RaceTech internals and a few engine/performance mods. Goes great.

My budget is under $800, but the lower the better. I have a mortgage and race bike, so I am limited but not poor.

I've been looking at different bikes, including Pitpros, and even Adam's bike has really taken to my liking. I just need a bike to fill in the gap between racing, just for a bit of fun/stamina. Its my first pit bike, so I'm not expecting the best yet. If I really want to get competitive, I'd get the 600 to the track.

Cheers

The only moderate bike you can get for about $800 is the MSO X7R, everything else for that price is just not worth buying and just doesnt compare to the MSO.

Have a look;

MSO Motocycles - Home

I would stick to the thumpstar. Dont go near the terra moto's tho. If you can get hold of a thumpstar pro 06 go for it. The best bike on the market IMO. Oh and prob coz i own one and have ridden many pitties in the day. And none quite compare. Cheers Chris

Yeah I agree, best pitty Ive ever riden is the 06 Thumpstar Pro but they ars past your budget. :D
