Good Morning,

I just purchased a KC 110 (w/ car carrier) from Craigslist for $200 when I haggled the buyer down from $400. To be honest, I thought that was a good deal so I just bit the bullet and bought my first bike. It will primarily be used on my farm to get around and thrash a little bit.

I do however would like to add some upgrades but I've read that these bikes are terrible, even as starter bikes. But I'll take any suggestions/criticisms if it's even worth upgrading this bike.

I did read: http://www.miniriders.com/bike-setup/24009-performance-upgrades-guidelines-stage-i-iii.html . It was very helpful.

So does anyone have any experience with this particular model? Thanks in advance.

welcome to Miniriders Lek,

make sure you drop by and post in the introductions thread to and post up a picture of your bike-

the KC110 looks to be a basic CRF50 style bike.
i would be dropping the oil, and removing the r/h clutch cover and cleaning out the oil strainer.
if it hasnt been done before it could be clogged up with bits of metal filings etc.

the other thing i would do is to fit a new genuine NGK Spark Plug to it, a C7HSA
the chinese plugs they come with aren't too reliable.

and lastly, they need the valve clearances set correctly, it will help it start, run and last longer too.
it is pretty easy to do, here is a link to a video showing basically how it's done-

i would set it up with .003" on the intake, and .004" on the exhaust,
it will make a fair bit of difference if thew bike has never had them set properly.

cheers, craig

good to have you on board mate, its refreshing to see you had a read around first, not many people check out the important threads on this site before their first post (including me lol). just do everything my67xr suggested and you should be fine. you may also want to change your airfilter to a foam type (unless it already has one) some bikes come with the K&N style ones and after time they allow un-filtered air into your engine. and your bikes pretty much what i started with, with basic suspension etc, but it did a great job for me and should for you, as long as you keep the maintenance up :)
