Hi All,

This is my first post (hope im posting in the right section) just stumbled across these forums whilst doing a little research on minis / pit bikes as im keen to get into the scene and figured i would gather some info on here.

Im looking at getting into the mini scene and am currently looking for a bike to buy, i live on a property of 7 acres and just want something to ride around on to begin with and then hopefully get into the mini motard scene.

Im a motorcycle enthusiast i used to race MX when i was younger up on the mid north coast and i now reside in the hawkesbury shire of sydney and own an 08 CBR1000RR which i track at the creek as often as i can and ride up the putty when im not busy.

First off i have seen many many variations of minis on ebay and general classifieds but where to start? i mean there's some pit bikes for $300 whereas some are over the $1000 mark...at this stage i don't want to spend much as i want something to just ride around my property.

Secondly if i wish to move forward with the hobby and get into the motard scene where in sydney can i ride or even race in a club? Is there any limitations as to what type of mini i can use and do i need to modify the bike in anyway other then road or slick tyres?

Any info would be much appreciated, look forward to your responses.

Cheers,

Nathan

Hey mate, have a look at this thread:

I'd probably go for a DHZ 160, they're $1,250 for the DPRO (crf50 framed version) and I think $1,750 for the outlaw (crf70 framed version).
The outlaw is recommended because it's a bit longer and more stable, but I have the DPro and I love it. These are the best bang for buck in my opinion, and to switch it to motard spec you just need a set of street wheels/tyres.

Can't help you with the motard scene though.

Awesome thank you for the prompt reply, this now gives me a little more reading to do and hopefully help me make a decision soon.

Those DHZ bikes look like a nice piece of kit and the parts available is quite extensive...nice to see the price of sprockets relatively cheap compared to road bike parts like renthal and driven.

Even the price of tyres is appealing...im so used to forking out near $500 for a set of tyres for the cbr and tear them up at eastern creek.

Ive had a quick look through some of the members bikes and i must admit they look really good.
