I am building a 125cc semi auto powered go kart. For added protection I want to fit oil cooler.
My question is does the oil cooler need to be mounted above the top of the engine as per dirt per bike mount? Or can I mount it lower to the frame? Will it affect the oil flow to and return putting extra stress on the oil pump? Instead of the lines coming from the bottom of the cooler, it would also be turned upside down to help in mounting to the frame?
The type of oil cooler will be fitted to the head through the bracket that goes onto the opposite side to the cam gear? Is there any difference to where they are fitted to the engine? Is there a particular oil cooler work better than others?
Cheers

Cooler location, within reason, is irrelevant. Low, with the fittings up, will work fine. Regular fin-types work heaps better than the crappy extruded ones marketed as "Billet". I buy ATV or street bike ones on eBay and give em a good ********. GSX-R and Katana oil-cooled models have big, cheap coolers. You have to make an adapter for the ports, and cut lines, but it sounds like you can handle that.
