Not happy with the bolts provided. Will get something more decent:

Quickly assembled to check out the colour:

Since these pics the plastics and tank have been fitted, and swingarm in satin black too. 125cc dummied in place until we buy the 140 Lifan engine. Electrics get put on tomorrow. Waiting on shock, forks and wheels (coming).

More pics to come!

I don't particularly know why you made a thread for this lol, all you did was paint a frame.. I suppose it took time.. and deserves to be showed off..

Lookin great man! Hope everything goes well with ya project
and also, what paint did you use? Is there a special kind of paint to paint metal? Lol.. Not much experience with paint obviously

Looks really good, can't wait to see more of it completed.Satin black is a sweet look.
Part 1 Ben!! will be good to see progress. Have you turned into the thread police

lol i can see my old mxb in the background have you got it going yet?, frame looks good by the way.

Would you like me more if I was the thread police? :D

We wanted to get it going, but the 'killa pitty' has taken priority and plans have changed. The MXB is now being parted ... or at least Hillz has dibs on the thing. LOL

Yes, this will be an ongoing thing as we put it together and post pics.

We'll get a bit more technical with what was done as we go, hoping to provide much info and tips and mods for those thinking of doing the same but don't know where to start.

Stay tuned ...

You can use just about any enamel or spray can to do a cheap and nasty frame. If you wanted something flash you would use a 2 pac auto paint then you could have a really top finish however the best and most durable finish would be powder coat (that is what bullbars etc. are done in) but both of these options would cost more than the frame so you would want to love your bike.

A polished alloy frame would be a option as well for this $$$$$$.

My brother used to be a spray painter by trade, and he owns his own spray paint equipment ... so its a good enough job for paint "lying around the garage" LOL

He uses and prefers acrylic due to its durability and easy use.

He must have been out of the trade for a while as acrylic paint isnt even supplied by most paint companyes these days.

As I said any old pressure pack is good enough for a pitty so your job will be much better than a pressure pack and heaps less than a powder coat.

Well he's been out of the trade for some years, but Duco (as well as other brands) are still alive and well and still selling Acrylic Lacquer, and we've been buying from them for years.

Don't know where your shopping.

Project Killa Pitty - Part 2

Here's some pics from earlier in the week.

Tank and plastic are on in this pic. Photos taken at night so they're a bit crap.

Since those pics shock has been installed, changed mind about rear swingarm (looking for something else now lol), bolted in temporary motor, started installing electrics. Seat will be redone in black!

looks good what did the frame cost

$69 :D

I am a panel beater so the paint reps come to us.

Some companys are still selling acrylic and so are places like auto one. But considering all cars made in the last 20 years are painted in 2 pac and it is vastly superior to acrylic not many panel shops (with exception of bog shops in car yards) even bother with acrylic.

The new generation of pigments are water based and the next generation of clear coats will also be water based and in 10 years 2 pac as we know it will also be defunct.

Ricky doesn't quite have a spray booth for painting. Arcylic works best under his conditions. We've done a few jobs in 2 pac, but its like a magnet to dust ... and a garage is not the cleanest environment.

yeah go ahead and just spray 2pak in the shed!!! its harmless stuff....

thats great advice:rolleyes:

lookin good!
what shock did ya put in it and what forks are u gonna get?
is this bike like gonna be for u 2 race or just ride around tracks or both?

what rear shock and forks are you going to get?

if you keep that seat i will kill you :)

lol i aggree the seat looks pretty **** its off an mxb yeh?? get a seat off dhz.
