Queensland Motorbike Park Review

In November 2009 news arrived of a potential Government approved Motorbike close to Brisbane suburbs. With such plans rarely going ahead the potential of a new park was dim, but the riders persisted, the government co-operated and NOW THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER......

Location
The new Motorbike facility located in Wyaralong, South of Brisbane is an easily accessible park taking just a short 1 hour 15 minutes from the Brisbane CBD. The location plants it well closer than the majority of Queensland's motorbike parks and the scenic drive is well worth it.

Phone- (07) 5463 5015

Address - Goan Road, Coulson. Qld. 4310

Goan Road is approximately 30kms from Beaudesert and approximately 3kms from the Ipswich-Boonah Road on Beaudesert-Boonah Road

Booking, Information & Prices
The beauty of having a government supported park is the funding that goes into all park areas. This is extremely evident when it comes to the dedicated QLD Moto Park website. The website provides constant park information included weather forecasts, track condition and what dates are scheduled for park closure, repair or special events. The ability to book both park riding and camping online is awesome, it not only saves 10 bucks, but allows you to get to the park, show your bit of paper and start roosting ya mates.

Prices for the park are not too bad considering the track quality and rider support. If you don;t have an MA license that's fine, for a little extra you get an included day license. Price benefits those from SEQ too, so if that's not you don't worry the booking form is not too intelligent....

Park Pricing

  1. Adult MA licence holder - $35 ($39 for non SEQ Council of Mayors region *)
  2. Adult non-MA licence holder - $42.50 ($47 for non SEQ Council of Mayors region *)
  3. Child (Under 16 years) MA licence holder - $20 ($22 for non SEQ Council of Mayors region *)
  4. Child (Under 16 years) non-MA member, $25 ($28 for non SEQ Council of Mayors region *)

Tracks
Now for the bit you've been waiting for. The park provides a great variety of tracks catering for all age groups and riding styles. The variety of tracks including pee wee, junior mx, senior mx, enduro and trials provides a great mix of riding, keeping you well entertained.

The efficient track layout is evident from a birds eye view

Pictured is the track start point, from here any track is accessible

Pee wee - PEEWEE
The pee wee track as it's name suggests is a dedicated track for the little ones, providing smooth straights, sweeping berms and small jumps, perfect for the novice junior rider.

QMP%20-%20PeeWee%201.jpg

The regulated track entry ensures riding integrity on the small tracks is kept

Junior MX track - MOTOCROSS
The junior mx track is a flat track, with sharp corners and a couple of small dips, nothing to fancy but a good track to warm the bike up and get any last minute tuning done. Good track for the beginners or younger riders looking for a bigger riding area.

Senior MX track 1- MOTOCROSS
The senior motocross is a dedicated big bike track, the wide circuit provides good rhythm with large berms and a mix of semi large jumps. For safety reasons only big bikes are allowed on the track, but throughout the day the track is closed to the big bikes and the juniors and big kids with small bikes are free to roam. These occasional half hour stints are a great time to take the pitbike onto a larger mx track and attempt some more advanced riding.

Senior MX track 2 - MOTOCROSS
The senior MX track 2 is an all-day dedicated big bike track, pit-bikes are off limits. Not hard to see why with the large amount of big bike traffic powering through the large 70ft + jumps. The track is perfect for the larger bikes with good rhythm including fast straights, monster berms and big jumps. Definitely a track for the experienced rider.

Trail/Enduro - TRAIL / ENDURO
With over 50km of winding enduro trails this is truly the parks stand out feature. With so many trail options each ride is a new adventure. The tracks will throw steep hills, massive ruts, fast straights and spectacular scenery making it a trail riding dream. While quite advanced in some spots the tracks are a blast on the pit bikes, be prepared to have your riding skills, particularly endurance put to the test, with some loops taking over an hour, a mechanically A1 bike is a necessity. Camel backs or a other form of water and energy supply is highly recommended as the trails loops are huge and the humidity often relentless.

The scale of the enduro trails is massive and the fun endless

Forest trails provide a scenic riding experience

Freestyle, Trials, Quads
Other riding areas are providing including a dedicated freestyle mx area with 3 different sized ramps and a big landings. Other areas include a trials area dedicated for the minority sport. The addition of a Quad entry is also a benefit to those more comfortable on 4 wheels than 2.

Freestly MX - FREESTYLE
Moto-Trials - MOTO-TRIALS
Quads - QUADS

Verdict
QLD Moto park is truly an awesome addition to Queenslands motorbike scene. To have such an advanced facility so close and with so much track variety is incredible and the beauty of it is it's only half done. Stage 2 of the park is soon to commence and the park will almost double in size, an exciting prospect when you consider what's already there. If I haven't said already, this place is a must to check out, take the pitties, bring some mates and have a blast. Camp if you want to and enjoy days of great fun.

Edit: For mini's sake and others riding the 50's. This place probably isn't the best for you with no dedicated tracks for the smaller bikes and with the Enduro tracks being a bit to much for the smaller bikes. But if you have a full-size or a mid-size too definitely bring the 50's along too.

only allowed to ride pittys on 1 track and thats when they take big bikes off thats sucks!!

so sound like they let ya on 1 track when they feel like it, and if there is only a couple minis and a heap of big bikes id doubt they open it at all
place sounds like a joke to me for pittys

the occasional half hr stink?? lol
this is what they told me when i asked bout the jnr mx track

Queensland Moto Park Juniors are allowed to ride pitbikes on there, but seniors are not allowed on the 65 track at all.

^^^ Don't know who you talked to mini, wake up on the wrong side of the bed too? As for the tracks closing for the pitbikes, we were clearly the minority, there was 3 of us on pitbikes and like 3 juniors yet they opened the tracks a number of times throughout the day for us. As for the 65 track we were allowed on with no hesitation for the whole day.

At the end of the day it's what you make of it, we had a blast trying new areas and enduro on the midsizes where a blast. For those dedicated 50 riders, maybe try elsewhere...

was just off there FB page and i asked them this Q
hi were can an adult ride a fast50/minibike at this park??
Reply
The Novice mx track and trails are available. Unfortunately the bike is too small to run with the rest of the seniors and the rider is too old to run with the juniors.
So to me sounds like a non pitty friendly place??

^^^ The park is probably not too suited for 50's but it's great for midsize pitties. As of yet there is not dedicated 50 mx tracks, but the master plan shows the park doubling in size so with enough Pitbiek owner feedback I reckon they could set up a sweet track. The people there are friendly as and even went to the trouble of finding us to let us on their quad to tell us the juniors were going on.....

Guys, I sent QMP an email yesterday asking about Pit bikes usage and gear requirements. I got the following reply "Yes you would be fine on the Novice MX track, as long as you have the basics ie. Long pants, long sleeve shirt, helmet and mx boots. MX boots are a definite for any of the motocross tracks, work boots are allowed on the enduro trails but not on any of the mx tracks."

I hope to get out there this weekend, (if the missus gives me a pass) to run in my new wheels on the Enduro track, and I will be keeping an eye on the Novice MX track - for availability and useage of mini's. Will report back when I have concrete evidence :)

^^^ Go for it man, the enduro trails are awesome! But make sure you take a camel back if possible and a few basic allen keys, spanners and spare clutch and brake lever. If you stack it out half its a heck of a long way back .... also I think they have a dedicated walkie channel, so couldn't hurt to take a walkie talkie.

Thanks Carlts... planned on taking some tools and a wee drinkie :) Hmm... walkie talkie... maybe I could quickly fashion up a couple of cans and some string....

Ok guys, well I took the LXR out to QMP today to check it out. Wow... loads of fun! The day went perfect for me really, I couldn't have asked for it to be better.

Firstly did 3 laps of the Novice Enduro track, takes around 10 mins to complete. Fairly easy, but sandy uphill corners, and some stuttery braking areas in down hill sections tested the suspension, brakes and me! As I am not conditioned to riding a MX bike, I needed a quick breather after the 3rd lap.

I then decided to take a leap of faith in my newly aquired skills and bike control, and tackle the 'yellow' enduro track, which took around 20-25 mins to complete. Yep, I'm slow! This track was much knarlier, than the Novice track, with quite a lot of really rocky sections, which were not really enjoyable. The rest of the track was awesome, and was a bit of a challenge, which , I did like! I finished off this session with another quick couple of laps of the Novice track.

Slammed a Monster drink, and a bacon and cheese pie for energy, then headed up to see what the deal was with the MX tracks. Dressed in my awesome work boots, jeans and a hoodie, I was knocked back on the Junior MX track, but could use the beginner one next to the office. This track served me well, whilst I pushed myself learning to slide the bike, and over take a little girl on a quad. ;) The track was fairly sucky though, as it is almost all off camber, and horrid to get any consistancy on. I had enough, and headed down to the Junior MX track.

With 2 reasonable table tops for the mini, a 3 decent berms, and some loose stuff, and a dozen kids to weave in and out of, I started to learn the bike more, and my cornering and braking techniques. This track is awesome to get your rhythm going. Low and behold, on my second session on the Junior MX, the guys pulled me up and said "we are opening up the Senior MX 2 Track to minis and kids if you wan to go up." Sweet.

MX 2? Wicked track. Big jumps, with big smooth take offs and good landing areas, to give me confidence getting an inch or two of air... hehehehe. I nearly shat myself in my last few laps where I nearly cleared one of the table tops. Lucky for me, the LXR just soaked it all up for me. My only gripe with the MX2 track, is the heavily rutted hard pack areas up the top, and the ordinary landing area at the bottom of the very top jump. I just have to get better and choose better lines I guess.

So, all in all, the place is amazing, well setup , nice people, plenty of energy drinks, water, and pies available, and no fun police that I could find.

Double thumbs up from me! I'll be back!

sounds like ya had a fun day good stuff , cheers for posting pics of the tracks, they are all of the same track? and what track is it?
Looks like could be a bit of fun with few bikes battling round it :)

Oops Sorry fellas. The pics are all of the Junior MX track. I stood in one spot and just panned around. So thats the whole track. If you are more advanced rider than me... the kids would end up annoying. For me, was fun just trying to get round them! (without scaring them and having a million angry parents chasing me down!)

That's awesome mate! I'd be keen on them enduros!! God dammit when is the next ride day lol

Ok i went out to QMP on the weekend to go see what it was all about, i realy liked the park! nice and groomed fun tracks great atmosphere.

Cool Vids man. Such a noob question, but whats the things that look like devil horns on the dudes 'bars on the stadium youtube?

they are for Freestyle.. Riders may also choose to have 'lever' on their handlebars to help then when performing 'Kiss Of Death Backflips.' A 'lever' is usually a metal plate or pipe coming off the handle bars, and going in front of the riders wrist or lower arm to stop the rider from rotating during the flips, but letting the bike continue to move.
