Will it harm my bike if i ride it in the rain now and again.
As you know, in England, it rains most the time.
Will it harm my bike at all?
I have a air filter that has been fully greesed.
The only thing i know on my bike that doesn't like getting wet is the electric start.

If you were going to do it regularly I'd recommend getting a fairly straight inlet manifold and/or an angled filter, so that it tucks into the engine mount area out of the wet. Then dress warm and go for it....rain is goood...mud even better....

all good mate, just remember...
"mud doesnt stick if your goin fast enough"
haha. have fun.

haha, definantly ride in the wet/rain... its teh most fun. Ive spent all weekended in the bush near my place in syd flyign thru puddles and mud and ****. The bike took it all, only hestitated once after a puddle. (out of about 20 about 30cm deep).

is it ok to clean atomiks, orions etc with a hose as long as you cover the exhaust and air filter? or are there areas where i should be careful like near eletrical bits.

Hey that was random..

When i have been 4 a heavy mud ride i put bag over/around air filter rags near plug and big cork in the exhaust.. and wash away i dont think i have missed much but dont let it dry because the more you leave it the harder it is 2 get clean In the TRAIL RIDER magazine there is a 2 page spread on how 2 clean your bike, i read it it was very good, $6.95 for dirt action and trailrider pack with poster.. bargain ;)

cheers dude.....i kno it was random but they were goin on about water affecting the bikes so it was toooo random lol

lol no problemo's but start it b4 u put it away just to dry up the wet parts ect and dnt 4 get to take the bag off airflilter because i drove away with it still on LOL

i dont even bother with a bag over the carb or zorst. Just avoid aiming the hose down the exhaust... I Just get the hose out, give it blast to get all the thick **** off then a big bucket of warm - hot water with dishwashing detergent, old dishwashing brush and give it a bit of a scrub then hose again.

take it for a quick spin to get the water out of zorst if any gets in. A trick i use with the electrics is put some grease on the electrical connectors to stop them gettin full of water and corroding... i use special white (lithium??) grease cant remember the name and cudnt b bothered to go check.

ok cheers guys..its just i went for a spin today in the mud and it went everywhere lol, i accidently rode through a 20 metre puddle and just covered me and my bike in mud...good fun though! Ill probably give all the electrics a spray with wd-40 afta, that should do it!

lol and what happened?

The plastic bag just go tighter but there was a few places it could get air

nothing much woulda really happened.....you woulda noticed pretty quickly coz it woulda sounded like the choke was still on.

no lol. it just died a bit but mum told me lol

First time I washed my bike, it wouldnt start. Squeeky clean but just woudlnt start. Fiddled around with the wires in case I pulled on a connection while scrubbing, still wont. WD40'd the vital electrical connections, coil and plug lead, none. Checked for a spark, none! The CDI box was the suspect so I replaced. Then still checking for a spark (plug lead in hand while holding to a conductor next to a metal part - the engine), kaboom, it fired up, got me all haired up a sec and you bet I laughed my heart out - alone!

Since then, I now disconnect the CDI box and put it aside.

cheers for the tip, i havnt had a problem yet starting it after washing it, fingers crossed nothing ever will happen!
