i am getting a new assassin a6 tomoro i was just wondering how to run it in and what i should do???

What is an assasin a6. Ive never heard of them. A link would be good if possible

looks like the mso xr6. when u run it in u should change the oil to 10w 40 semi synthetic but some people say leave the standard oil in because it is mineral base but it does says that it is tranportation (sp??) oil. also dont give the bike full throttle for about the first 2 - 3 tanks.

Ok cool good bike, same bike as the MSO X6R. If it was me Id drain the china oil out and put some decent mineral oil in it. Dont be scared to open it up and give it some decent revs on the run in(only a few hours is needed) as this will help set the rings properly and you should end up getting good power without bugger all smoke coming out. After the initiall run in it'd be a good idea to change the oil again also.

hold back on the gas for a while but i dont think you need to go through 3 tanks that will take 4ever maybe 1 tank

when you get it post up some pics i wouldnt mine havning a closer look it looks pretty sick

yeah drop the oil and put a decent mineral oil in it before you even start it.

what that mototuneusa website says is dead right, give it lots of full throttle and explore the rev range, thats the best way to bed the rings in. dont idle it for ages to warm it up either, just start it up give it a few little revs then take off... engines warm up a shitload faster under light load than they do just idling... give it the berrys after about 60 seconds

ninetysix is right just do that and you should be set to go thats what i done and my bikes runs sweet

How to run in an engine.

Crank and bottom end run in happens in the first couple of minutes. Keep it running for the first few minutes, very light load or just 'blipping' the throttle.

Top end, rings, cylinder, pistons etc.etc. 90% happens in the first 20 minutes. You can take it easy, you won't damage the engine, but you won't get a good ring/bore seal and the engine performance will suffer. It'll smoke a bit too.

To run in properly, load up the engine in a high gear under full throttle to expand the rings against the bore and 'run in' the wear. Do this for the first half a tank. Ideally, run up a hill under full throttle but only medium revs for say 20-30 seconds, then run back down the hill under no throttle letting the engine do the braking. This will get some oil to the rings. repeat. I'd do this for a tank of gas. You could probably use any mineral based oil and even semi synthetic, but run in and mineral would be best to get the engine 'run in' if you know wht I mean. Once it's been done, switch to a good oil and change regularly. every 5 tanks or so.

I use cheap home brand oil from safeway. My father works in the automotive industry, and believe me, it's the exact same oil as the Shell 20/50 you pay twice the price for. same oil, same factory same every thing. run it in my cars, bikes etc. May have problems with clutch slip, but I hven't so far. They say 10/40 oil for most pit bikes, but in a warm climate like australia, 20/50 would be just fine.

I do this for all my 2 and 4 stroke bikes, racing, road and dirt. Same deal for 2 and 4 strokes. Rotary engines would be a different story I'm sure.

Hope this helps :)

yeah ive used plenty of safeway oil in my road bike in the past, its SG rated and thats what kawasaki say is fine to run in it. its like $11 for 4L. never had any problems with clutch slip, but then its not friction modified
