Running Rich/lean

Hi guys,

What would my spark plug look like if my engine was running lean or running rich ?

What sort of colour would they be ?

If its running rich it would be charcoal black, it should be a light brown colour.

hey mine new 140cc is running pretty hot at the moment but i don't think that it is running lean as the plug is black. is this because its only new and still being run in

any suggestions guys.

How do you know it's running hot? All engines get 'hot', but you couldn't really tell unless you had a temp gauge?

As for spark plug, if it's charcoal, it's running rich. If it's whitish, it's running lean. You want a tan brown type colour. your know you're on the money then.

well i know its running hot when the bash plate becomes so hot i can't touch it.
