hi all, haven't been on here in ages(have had some big stuff happening)
anyway i went to start my bike up the other day(haven't used it in 4 months), and she just wouldn't go,so i did a once over and it wouldn't spark, so i mucked around a bit and i eventually got it started(still had trouble starting it later), but later found out in the worst possible way that my front breaks lost all pressure and failed!
so having some spark issues and my front breaks stopped working, i took it up to a local pitty shop and gave it to them to have a look, i just told em wat i thought that needed fixing:

tune up the carby (running way to rich)
fix front breaks
check all the ignition stuff

the guys were pretty cool, they got her all fixed up for me (had to get a new front master cylinder, and replace dodgy Chinese wiring).
anyways it cost me all up $170, when i got told that on the phone b4 i piked her up i was like , so now im wondering did i get ripped off or was it reasonable?

but i they did do a good job on her, it runs better than ever before.

You get ripped off when you take your bike to pretty much any shop to get it fixed.

Thats why I do everything myself, like most people.

not really you have to remember you are paying for the convienience of having somone else do the work
yes it would have been cheaper to do it yourself
but wiring is a pain in the ass
they would have also done general service stuff like valves and oil and all the rest
if they didn't do that then you got ripped off

but hey she goes ha

i tend to get the mad scientist (andy from big 50) to work on my bike every now and then and thats only because i'm lazy and not really good with valve clearances

have fun riding

depends what getting ripped of means
IMO no u didnt
any quality mechanic is charged out at least 40 an hour
so with parts and labour (thats the main cost) no u didnt

best bet nxt time if you have some skillz with a spanner is post your problem and im sure the happy mini's guys wil help you out

we even have an online tech help service just search the threads and ye shall find

any ways it's done now so buck up forget the coin and get the thing dirty
and when u get home say to youself that was the best 170 nika i eva spent

cheers

im pretty good mechanical wise, i love that stuff.
it was just beyond me with the wiring. But wile it was in there i thought, may as well get the rest of it sorted out(they got better tools than me anyways lol).

Yeah I'd say that is a fair price.

The dodgy ones are the ones that are like "ohhh we found all this other worn out stuff so we had to replace it bla bla" and they work on your bike more without telling you until you turn up and they charge you more
