G'day all. I have the head off my lifan and about to do some mild port like mack has suggested in previous porting thread. I only intend porting behind the valve, cleaning and matching intake to mainfold and taking off some of that lump where the valve stem is retained. Also Clean and polish exuast port. My question, is it necessary to remove the valves, springs, rockers cam, for fear of getting shavings stuck in things. Can the whole lot just be cleaned in ct18 and water dried and then reoiled. I live 60km from a bike shop and don't have a valve compressor. Some advice would be greatly appreciated, as I am hoping to do this tommorrow when my new dremil arrives.
Cheers all, ride on.

if you are porting you must take it all off, and if you are doing it at home yourself..... you will proberly make it run worse.... cn it a million times.

The porting is not difficult.

Port is not hard, some mechanics just like to make you think they are gods gifts to motors. Think about it brow, how many bear guzling mechanics do you know. Some of them even do good work. If they can do it , so can you. All it takes is a little research. I have ported 2strokes before in my old racing days, it was not hard at all to get better flow and therfore power with those old motors in the 80's. Jap 2strokes today are so good out of the factory, nobody does much at all to them. These lifans motors look obviously underdone within the ports. Mack has done all the thinking for everyone to follow in this regard. Very good of him to share it with us. I'm just being a bit lazy and don't really won't to take the vavles out because of the difficulty getting the valve seats back in later. But a recon it can all be cleaned anyway. I am only doing a basic clean up mild port that anybody could do really.
Peace ride on.

yeh if you have an idea of what you are doing should be ok! but porting is pretty precise stuff.. just say'n i seen i lot of dudes wreck there 2 stroke barrells & four stroke heads thinking they could save $80 buy doing it them selves

Yeah you really have take it all apart. You will never be able to clean it otherwise.
Its not impossible to put the cotters back in, just a bloody pain in the arse. You can easily do it with a little patience.

Cheers Mack

Thanks for the encouragment mack. I guess I'll just have to take it apart.
All the best,
